Remarks

GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE THRISSUR, IS so much good for campus life and placements. Here we get a high-quality education at less expense

Entrance Preview

1 of the top engineering colleges in Kerala.Good campus atmosphere. Under the great arch of getting tcr, not only just engineers, but also better personalities are developed. Many of my relatives are studied there and got good jobs. Also for a chemical engineering course, GEC Thrissur is a better option.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Well, in studying under Kerala technical university. University has a tight schedule. Teachers are not getting enough time for completing portions. It is a recently established university. So many problems are there. Hope, the authorities will solve those problems soon. The curriculum doesn't support research and talents of students. It's more like spoon feeding.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college provides internships. They will provide industrial training, each summer after the semester exams. In 3rd year college provides internships at industries kike bpcl, reliance, fact etc. When we are doing internships at bpcl and reliance we get a stipend of 10,000 rs.

College Events

5

We often celebrate Onam at our college. It will be an ethnic day, boys will wear shirt and dhothi, girls will be in saree. We usually conduct "thug of war", spoon race, uriyadi... Etc. There will be a basic doll and some musical programs too. Kerala piravi, Christmas, Vishu are also celebrated. In my opinion, each and every day in college is a celebration.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is highly feasible. We have to pay only 8225 rs per semester. There is many scholarships lime central sector scholarship, e-governance scholarship for students coming from poor families. They will get 15000 rs per year. And also men and women's hostel are also feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

Many scholarships are provided by the college to support students from poor families. We get scholarships like e-governance scholarship, central sector scholarship, Prime Minister scholarship etc. Students having e-governance scholarship will get 15000 rs per year.

Campus Life

3.5

Government engineering college Thrissur is famous for its campus life. Here we can enjoy freedom, and we are not forced to spoon feeding. Many clubs are there in GEC Thrissur like quotes, NSS which makes the students more committed to society .there is also many parties like sfi, ksu, ABVP, MSF etc. Our tech fest dyuthi is really famous among engineering colleges in Kerala. This year, ktu techfest will be conducted in our college. Art fest, sports meets will also be conducted.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facilities are not actually good. The building is so old. Rooms are so small and don't have enough space for having tables. Toilets are renovated, so it is better now. Fans are not working properly. Mess food is really messy. But the college hostel is highly economical.

Alumni/Alumna

We have a very good alumni network and it helps to get the students placed in better companies and industries. Kr Radhakrishnan, g Madhavan Nair, tests Thomas is our pride alumni.

Exam Structure

Internal exams and external exams are highly structured. The problem is there won't be much time between exams. Due to the tight schedule, teachers don't get enough time for completing portions. So the exams will be generally difficult. If the ktu authorities made some changes in syllabus, we can overcome this problem.

Admission

Through keam entrance examination. I got rank 1324 so got admission in the first allotment. There are 3 allotments and 1 spot admission. Students having rank up to 3784 got admission in general category. After each allotment there will be screening.classes will be commenced on August 1st.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty services are better. There are highly qualified and experienced teachers. In chemical engineering 5 faculties have previous experience of working in several industries. It is a boon to us. They gove us the training for attending interviews. Teachers are friendly and kind.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
