Likes
- I liked the safe and comfortable environment that this college offers for girls.
- Also the library is amazing and has a very nice collection of books. I mainly studied in the library during all my exams.
- The faculty is also outstanding. Specifically the faculty's of English and Psychology are above par. The teachers make us understand the topic thoroughly before our exams and the syllabus set is also comprehensive.
Dislikes
- Sometimes the college feels a bit too boring which is something that i disliked. The programmes and functions are all the same with same teams and same plans. It's repetitive.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is also nice. It includes all the main topics that are needed to be studied before giving further examinations. The only way they can improve their curriculum is by removing the compulsory HCP and Punjab as a subject. Or, they can include it only for an year of the course. The timing of exams in okay too. The exams are kind of hard as it is set by Punjab University.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees is to be paid every year. It's around 19k but with other practical subjects it reaches 20-22k. The increase in fees is less and the hikes are also less. There are a number of scholarships available specifically for marginalised categories. They also provide job opportunities for students in need of it. Employment opportunities at campus level are okay-ish and kind of mediocre. Not many companies come to our college and the ones that come are mostly related to marketing.
Campus Life
Campus life is good. Many programmes takes place in the college. Every occasion is celebrated properly. The yearly fest of Meraki, Diwali and Holi also take place. The functions are loud and happy. The library is in good conditions. There are variety of books and they are easily accessible to everyone. The classrooms can be improved a bit as they are old now. The sport activity is top level as MCM college has the best range of sports activities and facilities in Chandigarh. There are many social groups also and clubs for students to interact with each other. There are counselling cells to help the students too.
Admission
My admission was based on the merit basis. The 12th percentage was taken in focus for our admission. The application form was on the website of Punjab University and also Mcm website. The application process starts in mid june. There are many reservation benefits for students of marginalised communities. There is also sports quota available. The admission process can be made easier if the website was morw user friendly and if the lists and rules were easier to comprehend.
Faculty
The faculty is amazing. Their effectiveness level is on top. I specifically am talking about the English and Psychology department here. Psychology professors thoroughly make us understand every topic and subject properly. All the questions asked by us are answered by the professors. We interact with our teachers on a regular basis after classes too. They are very approachable. The faculty pay attention to each student in the class even if you're sitting on the top end corner. They truly act as our mentors.
