Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is quite outdated and lack practical exposure for the students. The exams can last upto a month. Exams are not too tough but the marks depends highly on the examiner and no matter how well you write the exam they will give you a low score. There is no subject marking scheme.

Fees and Financial Aid

The anual fees charged for BA course can range from 20000-25000 depending on the practical subjects and honours subject. This also includes the lab fees, library fees and the examination fees. The fees for other courses like BSc, BCA is higher.

Campus Life

4

There are alot of clubs in the college but not all of them are functional. Multiple fests take place in the college, however the main fest is Meraki which is the anual fest and takes place in feb-march. Apart from this diwali fest is also organised every year before the Diwali holidays. There are a few student run clubs as well the most popular one being aaveg which is the dance club of MCM.

Admission

I had heard great things about this college and so I applied here. Admission to the ug courses is based on the scores in 12th standard. Admission was done completely online during the time of my admission due to COVID

Faculty

3

The classroom size for BA is quite large, there are subjects were there are 70-80 students in one class (tho not everyone shows up regularly) but it makes it tough to accomodate everyone during the mid semester tests. The English department is byfar the best. The psychology department is average, there are some teachers that are very good and then there are some that will make you question your decision of taking up the subject. In BA there are total 5 theory exams out of which 3 you select for yourself and two are compulsory. If you decide to take honours in second year one extra subject will be added.

Night Life

2

The hostel timings are quite ridiculous. On working days the hostelers are allowed to go out between 2-6pm and on holidays the timing is 9am-6pm. The hostel gate closes at 6:30 pm after which students can't even walk around in the campus. It is especially difficult for e,f block since there is no good open space to walk and just sit in that block.

Placement Experience:

Obviously the placements are offered in the final year but due to the NEP 2020. Various interships are provided to the students of even first year ones. Companies like Airtel, Amazon India, BYJU's, HCL, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, etc have offered placements to the students in their companies. The average package students can expect is around 2-3 lakhs per annum and the highest package would be around 10-15 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placements varies from 5-7% only.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As of i know the ggdsd college of chandigarh is considered the best college in chandigarh, and their psychology program is really good and that's why i choose it. The curriculum prepares us in many ways, they organize different types of activities and they even tell us about interships and how to grab them. I don't think that the curriculum needs any type of improvement, it is quite good. I don't have any problem with the frequency and the timing of the exams and their difficulty is also on medium-hard level.
