Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

My curriculum is mostly CPA training and also basics of B.com. Currently this year the world curriculum of CPA had changed and KJC was one of the few colleges who immediately changed the curriculum to currently changed curriculum to maintain with the world's CPA curriculum. The economics we learnt were very prevelant to current times(eg- my economics teacher discussed about how recently the performance of Taylor Swift in Asia changed the Country's economy). They sometimes tend to omit parts which could be useless but the curriculum they strive to teach more than the standard curriculum offered.

Internships Opportunities

4

Even though I'm a first year, I already got an internship opportunity from the college. It was a summer internship bootcamp from WIPRO given by the college to which interested students could join and do intership over the summer. It is a 3 month training program on which I have currently done 1 month. It is going well so far they're teaching us various important things and mentorship under people who work for big MNCs like TCS, ACCENTURE, JP Morgan and more. But it isn't free and they failed to specify that before applying.

Placement Experience

5

KJC currently has 107 companies as recruiters for all the courses offered. They have summer internship programs to help you for placements. They have esteemed placements in companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, Grant, PWC, Thornton, Asian Paints, LDRA, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank, ITC, Northern Trust, South Indian Bank, Federal Bank, City Union Bank, Accenture, Amazon, Coca Cola, Cognizant, Deloitte, Oracle, Syncron, Sysfore, TheMathCompany, Wells Fargo, Data Semantics, Johnson & Johnson, Google, HSBC, McKinsey & Co, and PwC.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of my course which was B.com in international business and finance was about 1 lakh and 30 thousand. We had options to pay in Emi and also to pay in 2 installments of ¾ and ¼ of the full value. They were negligent to late fees paid but will take a bit extra money for fees being paid late. According to college, you can't pay fees if you don't have attendance to write the exam without prior permissions from the college. The college boasts a good scholarship for academics and even needy people too which I have seen my classmate recieved. The college had even offered students for part time work in the college lab and library awhile ago to help the students. Considering my Degree trains us for CPA exams and B.com, I think 1,30,000 is a fair fee charge for students. Normal degree without specialisations are affordable too.

Campus Life

4

The campus infra is amazing. There's tons of seating available and a lot of greenery. It has been termed the green campus due to it. It has 3 different canteens which are all different types of food and prize points in different points of the college, an atm ,an ample parking place and even a stationary shop with printing within the campus. There are various clubs to choose from depending on interests like literature, environment, music etc and there are public service clubs like NSS,NCC and CSA. I am in the environment club which does environment programs and even nature walks in forest (I went to a forest in Yelahanka called Barkabande which was organised by the club) and I am in CSA in which we teach kids from poor backgrounds everyday in college. The only social involvement in the college with people from other courses are mainly through these clubs which can be bad for people who don't participate in anything leading to them having a had social life in college.

Admission

The admission process was a bit scuffed. Basically you have to do an admission form and then there's a zoom meeting for document verification and online interview asking you a few questions. Even though I missed the first 2/4 zoom meetings, the college was understanding and let me take up the 3rd interview. The interview is them asking us basic questions based on our subjects and after the interview a few days later you get approval of admission. The cutoff for the college was 70% but that doesn't mean everyone above 70 gets admission. You will have to Ace the interview to get the admission. The admission process I think can improve in the aspects of details as in the beginning I was clueless about the admission process but later on it became clear

Faculty

5

My experience so far with teachings of the teachers have been amazing. It might not be the same for all the departments but the department I'm studying under (department of professional accounting and finance) have lot of qualified teachers who have certifications like being CA,CPA,ACCA,CFA and Doctor on PHD. I've had 2 CPA teachers so far among who one of then is a CPA and CA and the other is a CPA who has taught in Harvard business school. They have had amazing teaching which I've never experienced before diving more into real life insights rather than being a straight up textbook teacher. Although some teachers might be qualified their teachings might be lackluster and not all teachers will be as good. Till now I've had only one teacher who is just a textbook teacher and doesn't do anything else but it is still effective in teaching us what's important.

Interview Experience

4.5

I faced online interview prior to my admission which involved a zoom meeting verifying my original documents and then an one-one online interview where they ask about 5-10 questions on average related to the subjects. It is not easy if you don't have any idea about the subject and not hard if you know what course you're opting for.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. Our college has a dedicated placement department that really guides and supports us through the whole process. Big companies like Deloitte and KPMG visit the campus every year, and since I’m doing B.Com + ACCA, there are plenty of great opportunities in finance and accounting. Last year, around 8 students from the B.Com batch got placed in finance roles. The average package was about ?6 LPA. The best part is that placements keep getting better every year, and the college has maintained a 100% placement record. They’ve even tied up with foreign companies, which opens up more global opportunities for us. After completing my degree, I plan to build a strong career in finance—hopefully starting with a reputed company like Deloitte or KPMG—and later explore opportunities abroad.

Placement Experience:

The college offers placement through the COC (Career Opportunities) cell. Students become eligible for placements by the 5th Semester. The companies which come to hire include the Big 4s, (KPMG, Delloite, EY and BCG), Fedral Bank,TCS, etc. Almost 70% of students opt for higher eduaction so the less number of students get placed at the UG level at least. I am personally figuring out which path to choose but I have placement in mind at the end of the degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My specific aspect of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course is the ACCA along with Bcom. Most importantly the 9 paper exemptions provided that gives flexibility in the context of studying. The curriculum is well corporate and real world oriented. They prepare us on how to face the real corporate world through their curriculum by conducting different seminars and workshops.
