Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Course curriculam generally focuses only on theorotical knowledge and practical knowledge is less campartively, One cannot relay only on course subjects in order to get good placement , one should have enough practical knowledge so that they can clear placement rounds. course curriculam subjects are easier campartively and one can pass them without any difficulty. paper's are set by University that is I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University and is distributed in all the affilated colleges.

Placement Experience

3.5

placement is good in our college. Aveage package is 400000, and average package for cse stream is approx 500000. Various companies like alstom, infosys, accenture, TCS, Wipro, amazon, Walmart, JP Morgan chase and co. etc visit campus every year and recruit students. Approx 300+ companies visit campus and above 80% of cse students are placed but In other streams like ECE.EE and ME etc placements are campartively lower and students face difficulty in order to get placed. MY plan is job oriented i also want to get placed on campus and hope so i will get placed in a good company.

Fees and Financial Aid

fee structure is 47500-/ per semester and some miscellaeous dues are added into your fee like fest fee and other fee. Scholarship to state students that is to punjab students is given and also the education loan is available

Campus Life

4

College life is Fun, crowd is also decent and there are plenty of clubs that organize various activities time to time. PARIVARTAN is an annual cultural-techno fest that is organized every year and various singer's came to perform and it lasts for two days. Library of every department is different and one can borrow books from library with the help of libarary card issued at the time of admission. Smart classes are available that makes studies more effective.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have opted for Ashiyan PG that is located nearer to college. it is campartively cheaper than hostel and offers good meal(quality wise as well as quantity wise) as campare to hostel meal. The matress is provided by PG. attached washroom is also there with geyser. one can opt for any room either cooler or A.C room. One have to register by giving his photograph and details and also phtocopy of an identity proof. it costs me around 8300-/ per month. NOTE:- laundry facility is not there in PG, one have to wash his/her clothes by their own.

Admission

One can firstly register in specified couse by giving registration fee to department, and then after registration is complete and the session starts then can pay full fee. 75% in 12th science is needed to get admission in computer science stream and 60% in 12th science is required to get admission in information technology stream.

Faculty

3

Faculty members are good and have somehow knowledge of subjects, Teacher's have Phd degree in specific course that they are teaching, whereas some teacher's are still in the middle of their phd and are teaching side by side. You can interact with chief class counseller if you are facing difficulty in learning from the particular Teacher, Regular chief Representative(CR's) meeting is scheduled and they provide the feedback of every teacher also feedback form is given to students in form of google docs so that the performance of teacher can be evaluated.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
