What Students Say
Likes
- The infrastructure is not the best but better than other colleges.
- Rooms are air-conditioned, library is well maintained, there are 5 shops including the canteen that you can eat from.
- Faculty is well educated and experienced
Dislikes
- The headache that one has to face for short attendance in Hansraj since 2023 is too much.
- Sports events are not well organised for the normal students.
- It is a little overhyped like all the North campus colleges.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is I believe still not improved and not equipped to deal with today's modern era. The content has not been updated much. Even though under NEP students may choose from varied range of subjects, many of them are still useless and in-effective.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are very rare to be provided from the college itself for the commerce kids. And for the humanities and science students it is almost nil. People tend to get intership via their own networks and direct approaches.
Fees and Financial Aid
So the admission fee is about Rs 30000. Then for the semester final examination a student from life sciences will have to pay about 2000 Rs. Totalling for a year at Rs 4000. There are scholarships available, but there are very few who'll be able to benefit from them. Intership opportunities are provided for the commerce students. To them also, very few opportunities are available so the ratio of people getting a placement from college is way to less.
Campus Life
The campus life is actually a city life as there is not Campus in DU. In North Campus (it is just a name) the Colleges and departments are located in very close proximity so there is a student environment that hardly any other college in entire country will be able to provide. Some societies are active in DU and they provide scope for a lot of exposure.
Admission
Admissions in UoD is done after a student sits for an entrance exam named CUET. After CUET students need to fill their registration for DU colleges in the CSAS portal. The most important part in this is the preference list selection on the basis of which colleges are allotted. It is not that hard to score good in CUET for science students and any above average student can get into the top Du colleges
Faculty
So the faculties that i have dealt with till now are from the following departments: botany, zoology, chemistry, physics, CS. Though all are highly qualified and experienced i have observed that: The biology department teachers are more connected to the students. The chemistry department teachers are literally average in terms of their teaching style and caring about students (if they do at all). Physics department teachers, I do not recommend any student to take physics hons in Hansraj. Most of then are below average.
