What Students Say
Likes
- Educated and supporting faculty - The faculty is educated and also encourages students and helps them with their doubts and queries.
- Greenery in the campus is good. There are two gardens for students to relax.
- Facility of canteen and college cafes is also good. They have a number of spots for students to sit and spend their time accordingly.
Dislikes
- A lot of campus area is left idle. Though it increases greenery, but as an NIT, more infrastructure could have been built in this.
- There is lack of hostels in NITRR. Thus, the students who couldn't get hostels live in the PGs or hostels in the areas surrounding the campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
You can score well here in the exams, provided you pay attention in the classes, and prepare accordingly a week before the exams start. Professors help in the preparation. The course is well distributed. Classes are held from Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday day off.
Internships Opportunities
Internships status is also good. Seniors too help you in achieving and exploring various opportunities, and help in expanding a student's domain of skills and capabilities required to achieve effective learning.
Placement Experience
As a fresher, I have no experience in the placement status of the college. But as much as I have heard from the seniors and faculty, placement here is good, providing a fair package. Percentage getting placed is also very good. Highest package offered this year is somewhere around 60 lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
(This is the maximum fees, ie general, non EWS) The fees, excluding hostel, for first year, is approximately 1.4 lakh. Personally, I have no idea about the scholarship status. For first semester (year 2023-24), the fees was around 71,000 which was compensated from the fees submitted during the JOSAA counsellings. The refund was provided to the students during the month of April (2024) (the counselling ended in August(2023)). For the second semester, registration happened in January, 2024, and fees was submitted in February 2024.
Campus Life
This college hosts a number of fests throughout the year. The primary fest being Eclectika, hosted by Sanskriti, a cultural committee of NITRR. There are a number of committees as well as clubs, where you can be a part as per your interest. They also host Avartan (tech fest), Samar (sports fest), Shruti (musical event), etc. These fests take place mostly in the months of October-November, and also February. Alongside these, number of events keep happening in both autumn and spring semesters. All in all, college life is happening to a certain extent, where a proper balance of academics and fests is maintained.
Admission
Admission is done through JEE Mains, for IT in NITRR, you need to secure somewhere around 97-98%ile in JEE Mains. and then, JOSAA counselling happens, at the end of which you are alloted a branch in a college. After this, you'll get the application form from the official website of NITRR, and online registration takes place. After the completion of all these, offline registration takes place before the commencement of classes.
Faculty
As a fresher, my experience with the faculties here was good. They are good at teaching and help the students with their doubts and queries. They are approachable at the times when you need them, through your class representatives, and they also encourage you to learn and ask doubts and helps solving them as well.
