OPJU Admission Dates 2027

Admissions for the 2026-27 academic session at OPJU are in final stages for most programmes. The 2027-28 cycle opens with JEE Main and CUET for B.Tech, and with CAT 2026 results for MBA. Exact dates for OPJU-level counselling are set by the university and typically follow one to two months after the national exam results.

OPJU Courses and Fees

OPJU offers programmes across three schools: School of Engineering and Technology, School of Management, and School of Science. The university has over 40 programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Engineering is the flagship school, with seven B.Tech branches and strong industry alignment with the Jindal Group’s steel, power, and mining operations.

Hostel fees range from INR 1.02 Lakhs to INR 2.20 Lakhs per year for both boys and girls, depending on room type. M.Tech specialisations include Computer Science and Engineering, Heat Power and Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing and Automation, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, Power Systems and Power Electronics, and Structural Engineering.

OPJU Admission Process

OPJU conducts its own university-level admissions counselling, accepting scores from national exams as the eligibility base. The university does not follow state-level centralised counselling (unlike CSVTU-affiliated colleges in Chhattisgarh). Students may also appear in the OPJU Entrance Test if they lack a national exam score.

B.Tech (First Year)

• Eligibility: 10+2 PCM with minimum 50% aggregate
• Entrance: Valid JEE Main score, CUET UG, or OPJU Entrance Test
• Selection: Score evaluation, merit list, choice of branch, document verification, and fee deposit

MBA and EMBA

MBA admissions are based on a valid score in CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, GMAT, or the OPJU Management Entrance Test, followed by a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). A graduation degree with a minimum 50% aggregate is required. Chhattisgarh domicile candidates and students with the JSPL employee background receive additional consideration in EMBA applications.

Undergraduate Management and Science

BBA, BCom, BA Economics, and BSc programmes accept CUET UG scores or merit on 12th marks. Eligibility varies by programme family. BBA requires 10+2 from any stream. BSc programmes require 10+2 with relevant science subjects (PCM or PCB as applicable).

B.Tech Lateral Entry and Diploma

Diploma holders in the relevant engineering branch may apply for direct second-year B.Tech Lateral Entry. Eligibility is a relevant Diploma with a minimum of 45% marks. Diploma programmes are open to Class 10 pass candidates. Admissions are merit-based and handled directly at the university level.

OPJU Placements

OPJU reported an 89% placement rate in the most recent placement season. The highest package reached INR 33 LPA and the average package was INR 7.02 LPA. Engineering placements are anchored by the university’s proximity to the Jindal industrial cluster in Raigarh, giving Metallurgical, Mining, and Mechanical graduates direct access to Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) and its supply chain. MBA and management graduates are placed across FMCG, banking, IT services, and consulting.

CSE graduates are placed in IT services and product companies. Mining and Metallurgical Engineering graduates benefit from the Raigarh steel belt, securing roles at JSPL, Monnet, and other core sector firms. The university also recruits with FMCG and retail brands including Dabur and Flipkart.

OPJU Rankings

OPJU is ranked by NIRF under the Management category. The institute falls in the NIRF Management rank band 101 to 125 in the 2025 rankings cycle. The university holds NAAC A accreditation and is UGC-recognised.

OPJU Campus and Infrastructure

The OPJU campus is in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, within close proximity to Jindal Steel and Power’s integrated steel plant. The built-up area spans 5 lakh sq ft across academic blocks, laboratories, library, auditorium, and hostel facilities. The campus hosts 45 well-equipped laboratories and a central library. A fully Wi-Fi campus with 1 Gbps connectivity supports academic and research activity.

Hostel accommodation is available for male and female students, with fees ranging from INR 1.02 Lakhs to INR 2.20 Lakhs per year depending on room type. Engineering and management aspirants in Chhattisgarh shortlisting private institutions often compare OPJU with Kalinga University, Raipur, and Rungta College of Engineering and Technology (RCET), Bhilai. All three are AICTE-approved private institutions in Chhattisgarh attracting a similar applicant base from the state.

OPJU leads on NIRF recognition in Management and benefits from unique industry proximity to JSPL’s Raigarh operations, making it the stronger option for Mining, Metallurgical, and Mechanical Engineering aspirants targeting core sector careers. Kalinga University in Raipur holds an NAAC A+ and is better located for industry access from the state capital. RCET Bhilai benefits from proximity to SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant and has a longer track record in engineering education.
