Course Curriculum Overview

3

I always adored my subject which was English.I made the decision in school that i want to do further studies on this subject and it always made me happy whenever i used to read a novel based on rennaisance or the victorian age and i knew that i have to take this subject when i get in a college.English is a language without which we cannot go anywhere in life noone will give any job in any sector whatever we do we must learn English and as i opted for honours degree english was my most strongest point. I think whatever changes that must be brought is in the examination system the semester wise exam process must be changed and there should be yearly examinations and teachers should give us students more time to learn before holding internal exams. The teachers should take weekly test after teaching a topic which helps in easily memorising a specific topic.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was very lucky when i got into calcutta university because luckily there was no tution fees increasing policy as it was a governmemt college i studied in.And there were also many scholarship programmes which helped students who comes below poverty line to easily complete their courses in college. The scholarship were mostly a yearly package and it was a decent amount of money which was enough for students to complete their course without spending their own expenses. There was swamivivekananda scholarship pradhanmantri scholarship which were mostly been given in college. There was no provision for employment as such students couldnt take a job at the college without there course been complete.

Campus Life

2.5

There was college social a private determental ceremony , freshers everything was held in our college with a very energetic attitude from the college staff and the teachers. The teachers also used treat us with food which they availed for us from their own pocket. There was intercollege cricket championship held in our college once but i think our college sould focus more on sports.

Admission

It was really difficult for students with no minority or caste certificate to get admission in colleges. And i also faced the same challenges because i was from a general cast and there are no extra seats available for students of general caste and the cut off was also and still is very high of general candidates.whereas candidates belonging from sc or st background had no such problem beacuse they had reservations.I think the first things which must be changed is the admission process must be equal for all candidates and the website from which we got our updates from about the upcoming merit lists and so on must also be developed more

Faculty

There was in total 6 teachers appointed to our delartment and 25 students in my session in college. As students were less in our department there was room to ask questions freely to our professors. The proffessors really did everything they could to make us understand a topic more easily they showed us films related to the topic and some professors also explained by telling their personal life stories which was relatable to the topic. When we had any doubts we easily approached the teacher to clear a topic again face to face and they were always happy to help , I personally used to call my teachers sometimes during exams and they always showed how determined they were to make us good students.

Who gets admitted in which course is completely a personal matter. No matter which course one gets admitted in, studies are good in all the courses. There are many experienced teachers in this college. Exam time is 3 hours. Teachers always help students in their studies.

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. Mere collage The exam level is basically hard and exams are conducted twice a year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.
