Course Curriculum Overview

There have been a lot of changes since we are a fresh new batch with a new affiliated University which is IGNOU. (Before it was JNU.) The changes as of now , haven't made a significant remark apart from the results announcement. It's been an year and the results of even the first sem are not displayed yet. Before it was quite easier to atleast pass the exams but now even a fail in any internal assessments can give you a back. As far as the real world applications are concerned ,IHM Mumbai,is a great place to learn. They most probably place you at a 5 star hotel for your IT. The things taught in class are very much same to what is applied in the real world setup and the things which might be different,we are briefed about that. It's a BSC degree so you can further study or apply for a master's in this field or can pursue a totally different career as most of the students do.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is very much similar to those available on sites. There's no such hike on tution fees as of now. The complete cost of BSc degree is around 4 lakh 50k which is taken part wise pet semester. It includes the tution fee, caution money and institutional fees and other charges as well. If you want a hostel then it'll be 12000 a month which is also taken per semester so 60k for a semester. It includes the accommodation and food and caution money. You cannot leave the hostel before a sem ends, if you are...then no refund is generated. Scholarship is there for a person securing 90% or above in his 12th board exams. The ews can also opt for concession. All together all kinds of scholarships are provided here. Also if you participate in some events ,there are prize money allocated for them. Even if you top in a particular subject in a year then also prizes are there. This year it was 5k for ranking first in a particular subject for the third year.

Campus Life

I'm studying since August 23, so it's going to be 9 months here. Till now there have been huge number of events like we're from a hospitality industry so we have to celebrate each and every festival from the country. We had independence day in August,then onam with tug of war competition, World tourism day event,navratri which had a rangoli making competition,dandiya garba night,then the missletoemania on Christmas, then republic day, cornucopia ,then the platinum Jubilee celebration,Holi celebrations,and now the farewell of final year. And believe me each of these events are done in the best possible manner, the food ,the decor everything is top notch. The technology in the kitchens are good but the classrooms seem a bit old. Only badminton or table tennis are the sports played here, even basketball can be ...but the facility is not that good. There's not enough land area for sports like cricket or football.the badminton net is torn and also the table tennis table is broken .

Hostel Facilities

The hostel rooms are veryyyyy old, the ceiling is breaking down on the 6th floor and there are only triple sharing or double sharing rooms. There's sea view,but no AC and during summer it's been too hot. Hostel rooms are given on merit basis,as per your rank. Also you must need to have a local guardian in Mumbai,and a medical insurance. Its 12k per month but you're charged for a semester so it's 60k for the accommodation and food combined . It's very cheap compared to living outside as the accommodation for PGs here near the college starts from 10k. The meals are average. There is a biasness for the senior students. All the day scholars can have lunch in the mess and the seniors go ahead of the first years even if you're a hostellite. So it's frustrating standing in a long queue even after paying for the meal and seeing people eat before,even if they haven't paid for it.

Admission

Admission process was quite simple. You can find variety of videos on YouTube regarding the whole process. If you have 50% or above in class 12 ,and also separately in English then you can opt for this course. You can apply for the NCHM-JEE entrance exam which is held every year and the subjects you have to study are maths, logical reasoning, English, service aptitude,and general knowledge. I studied a month before, regularly,and secured AIR 375 with 538 marks out of 800. So the exam is quite easy ,if you just complete some previous year papers you can crack the exam. And if you're from sc,st,or obc category then the cutoff will go even lower.

The teachers are well experienced and well educated. Each of them are qualified from an IHM itself and majority of them are teaching since long. They're supportive and very unbiased. They don't just teach to finish classes ,they make sure students learn . They're also chill with the students,they can make and take jokes and it's fun studying here. At the same time the discipline they make us maintain is also top notch.

Placement Experience:

From 5th semester we are eligible for campus placement. Companies like ihcl, ihg, eih, the Hyatt and Hilton the etc. All most ever students gets a placement via college. Many of the students have plans like to do MBA, MSc or to get into any MT program of any company. MT program is a management training program offered by the company which allows you previllage of getting promoted to managers level in span of two years. It is paid program and they have examination as well. Minimum package offered by any company is 3 lacks per year.
