Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum of my course is very inclusive yet very basic.By this course we are equipped to apply everything we learn. We learn the basics and a little into advanced applications of the commonly used programming languages. At the same time the college also provides us workshops to be equipped with today's advanced skill set.We are also given opportunities to have hands on experience with projects .

Internships Opportunities

4

We have many workshops conducted by our seniors and aluminium. Our professors encourage us to join the iit summer internships. We also join the Intership opportunities provided by isro and various other institutions.

Placement Experience

3

We have the maximum placements in the Cs department. We get offers from infoys,TCS and many more. The average package ranges from 10 to 15 lpa. Most of us are mainly focused in further studies and we are given very good guidance by our professors .

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of scholars provided in our college. All the central and state government scholarships are available besides that we have an alumini funded scholarships as well. The students with exceptionally high keam rank are admitted to the college in the fee waiver category are viable to pay only the exam fee.The only issue in fee that we mainly face is that all the students regardless of using college transport or not must pay the bus fee.

Campus Life

4.5

One of the major advantage I have had by joining this college is the exposure to diverse activities and fields of interest. We have different clubs to encourage the academic, sports and cultural interest of the students.I am a part of the Space club of our college which has given me the chance to engage with students with the same interest and participate in a lot of activities.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The college provides both ladies and men's hostel. But I chose to live in a PG.It very close to the college in walking distance and in close proximity to all the necessities like shops, gym etc. It is kept very hygienic and we get homely food as well.

Admission

The admission to my college Government Engineering College Thrissur was through KEAM entrance exam.Based on keam exam score and 12 marks the keam rank was published. All the government engineering colleges of kerala accept admissions via the keam exam.Once the rank list is published we are given the chance to list the colleges we would like to take admission in the order of our preference. Then there is mock allotment ,first phase, second phase and finally spot allotment. If during the mock allotment we get alloted to a college which is at a lower preference can always reapply and wait for first allotment ,the same can be done for second allotment as well. All the details of the admission process is clearly given in the keam website .Once alloted to the college the admission desks of the respective college gives us further information. One area where improvement is needed according to me is that the spot allotment result is declared half way through the first sem.Can be better if earlier

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
