Course Curriculum Overview
I take a keen interest in maths, logic building and writing codes since I was in 8th standard so I chose Computer science and engineering because it suited perfectly with my interests. The curriculum focus on data structures and algorithms that builds problem solving aptitude which is what companies look for when they hire , the curriculum also comprises operating system, database management, discrete mathematics to name a few and they all help in getting real world know how of tech industry which is very much required. Although the course is perfect but it is better if we have some management courses in our curriculum which can improve our soft skills. The exams are quite frequent two exams in a semester and quizzes in each semester and plenty of lab and their exams. Generally labs follow continuous evaluation pattern and you get judged in each and every lab that you have.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee including tuition as well as hostel fees is Rs 90,250 per semester.Since it is a government college it depends on government policies. The total cost including everything is Rs 8,50,000 + Rs 1,00,000 (laptop and other accessories) . There are a lot of scholarships available especially if you are female or belongs to minority for example, aspire scholarship (it covers all your expenses), MCM Scholarship (generally covers tuition fees and Rs 12000), NSP , and other scholarship which you can avail if your parental income is below Rs 8,50,000. There are no paid campus employment available but you can look after various internships that companies offer to college students girls should definitely pay attention they have a high rate of selection even in first year.
Campus Life
Tarang is the cultural fest of IIITDMJ Jabalpur, organised in the month of October - November and span over three days. When it comes to books you will have enough of them as far as curriculum is concerned but if you are a book lover and loves reading wide variety of books then you may not find every book in library shelves. The labs and the infrastructure provided is better than other private colleges, the college is built in association with Japan so the machines are well advanced. There are also lot of clubs that you can engage yourself in and you get to enjoy a lot and actually it is a necessity not a desire because after a long hectic day one can join clubs and bring their creativity out . The sports facilities are also good we have a cricket ground, a football ground, a basketball court, badminton court and a lot more.
Admission
I am currently enrolled in computer science and engineering in PDPM IIITDM JABALPUR, and to get admission there one need to write JEE mains which is conducted by NTA. The exam is mainly conducted two times a year first attempt in January and second attempt in April. The application form is open during end of December and application fees is around Rs 1000 for general. This exam is to get admission in premier central government engineering colleges in India excluding IITs. Reservation benefits are available for female as well as for minorities and can help a lot of used well. This exam requires a good problem solving aptitude. Although the admission process is very smooth and hassle free, but there is always a scope for improvement,i.e., the dates of exam should be declared well in advance rather than announcing them just a month ago.
