Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is similar to that of any other engineering college. We cover the same subjects offered by other colleges affiliated with SPPU. the syllabus is somewhat old-fashioned and fails to adequately prepare students for the real-world engineering challenges. Many staff members simply present a PPT, recite its contents, and depart, leaving the learning experience dull. While there are a few professors who genuinely excel in their teaching, they are in the minority.
Internships Opportunities
Our college offers 2 internships in the entire academic course. One after the completion of third year and one in the final year. These internships can range from roles in software development and engineering to marketing and finance. Students often work on projects assigned by these companies, which can vary widely depending on the organization and the nature of the internship. For example, a student might work on developing a new software application, conducting market research for a product launch, or assisting with financial analysis for a business project.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements usually from the seventh semester onwards. Various renowned companies visit the campus, offering diverse job opportunities. For instance, companies like DE Shaw, Caterpillar, and Bajaj Auto have visited, offering roles in software development, marketing, core and consultancy. The highest package offered is typically around 55lpa, while the average package ranges from 7 to 8lpa, depending on the company and role.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my entire term, there was no increase in the fees. The fees remained almost constant around 85000. But, as now COEP has been upgraded to an University, the fees have drastically increased. It has become somewhere around 135000. The complete cost of my education was around 350000 including all the charges. There are a lot of scholarships available for people whose family income is less than a specified limit. I didnt avail any as i didnt match the income criteria. There are various governement as well as private scholarships. You can get your entire college fees waived off and even be paid some amount for expenses thorugh scholarships. There are no campus employment schemes for BTech students. It is available for students doing their MTech. The are generally appointed as TAs/ Lab asssistants. The stipend for them is around 10-15k per month. Compared to other colleges, the fees is quite low, altough it might feel high considering it is a government college.
Campus Life
My experience on campus has been quite lively and enjoyable. We have these big events like "Impressions" and "Mindpsark" where we get to showcase our talents and hang out with friends. These events really bring us together as a community. The library is pretty good, with lots of books and things to help us with our studies. It would be even better if they had more variety to cover all the different subjects we're interested in. Plus, it'd be handy if we could access these resources online too. There are over 90 student run clubs at COEP covering every aspect which one could think of. The exposure which one gets through these soceities is unparallel.
Admission
The admission process for my course involved Maharashtra CET, a significant milestone where I secured an impressive percentile of 99.3. Accessing application forms was facilitated through both college website and physical visits to the college. I didnt avail any reservation benefits. Exams, occurring yearly, posed a challenge.
