Course Curriculum Overview

4

It easily and clearly includes all the fundamentals of the course along with labs for letting the students get an idea of what they might encounter in industries. The curriculum is good but still has some rough edges and portions where improvements could be brought . The 1st YEAR course could be improved a little more by including practicals that are in accordance with the current developed equipments and technology. As far as teaching is concerned it's more bookish and saponified to the best . Going indepth on the topics and better explanation could be brought up to keep the logic seeking mind of students engaged . The difficulty of the exams are quite ok and properly timed exams will be much appreciated (according to the calder).

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for placement after the 5th semester. The college has comparatively great placement offers , with the year 2023 seing a record placement in GECT history . A wide variety of companies come for the placement and there are big name in them too. A decent about 30% of the students get campus placement . I plan to do my mtech as my next step in my career.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee is ok in my opinion charging only about 10 thousand for a years course in engineering is great . But I would love to see the fee structure be influenced by marks scoed and not the basis of caste and religion . Including all the fee (including mens hostel) a student faces it could be sumed to 4.5 lakhs for the entire course . There are multiple scholarship available for all kind of people , notable one being E grance which is available for almost all students . The placement cell of the college is quite inactive and is all talks and no work .

Campus Life

4.5

Dyuthi and Thrissur Motor Show are the two major festivals of the college (Cultural fest and Tech fest). Both attracting students and entertainers throughout the nation . Both are national level events which will be one the best aspect of GECT students college life . The college library is well equipped and is easy to access for every student. All the classes have well maintained equipments and furnitures to qualify it as a smart class and comfortable for students. The college has a wonderful extracurricular activity life with sports being the most notable one almost all kind of games and athletics is promoted in the campus and even has professionals as trainers . The campus promotes a strict no ragging agenda in the college . Clubs and student portals are an highlight of this college including all kinds of one for every department

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The mens hostel is quite good for what they cost . Improvements could be definitely brought up in water and furniture facility , other than that it is great . The meal is decent but is a nightmare for vegetarians as the menu is too short or nonveg specific . The registration process is quite cumbersome as it require as series hand documentation to be performed. And online facility for such processes are neither available or the available ones are not well know. The ambience in the rooms are that of an ideal hostel room , not too good not too bad

Admission

The admission process requires the presence of the students during admission and set of legal documents requested by the college before the admission process. It includes +2 certificate , KEAM Rank certificate , Allotment slip , Fee slip etc. Me personally belonging to a general quota didn't have any reservation perks to avail and had to do full payments . I completed my Higher secondary education during the corona days and now I have to finish each of my semesters within 4 to 3 months where in reality it happens in 6 months. There is nothing that fundamentally wrong with the college and would really suggest to make the record writing process digital and research oriented

Other Applied Colleges

College of Engineering | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)

I was more interested in having a career in chemical industry rather than pursuing one in mechanical

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.
