Campus life is good with different people. Exposure to variety of customs and traditions.
A big central library and reading space for students 24/7 is great for those who need a place to study peacefully

Language barrier if you are stepping outside from the campus, then it is difficult to roam if you don't understand tamil
Mobile network issues are there and also campus wifi facility sucks more often

Course Curriculum Overview :

Bioinformatics resembles the course of computational biology. We ll compete with computer science department students during placements. So one can say it is related to any course that includes computer science but the difference being we also study biology and genomics too with other subjects midexams and semester exams are held on a specific time schedule designed as per the dept feasibility

Class Size : 55Course Fees : INR 25000 per year

Placement Experience :

Placements are average. The major companies are located in and around tamilnadu which bounds the students to work in the same place. Some companies offer internships which are paid and based on the performance they will retain you by offering the employment

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is minimal like in places other than central universities they ll charge atleast 80k per semester but here the entire course will be mugged in 80k. Merit and means scholorships and all other CSS are available to deserving students but make sure you submit all the documents like income and ews certificate (updated).

Campus Life :

Campus Life is best in pondicherry University. I mean it. It is a campus located on East coast of India and the people here are diverse hailing from different places. Hostels are fine but the distance between the hostels and academic blocks is somewhat manageable moreover bus facility is provided mornings, evenings and afternoons inside the campus

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels are average but stayable. Once we got application form from the department, we have to got to hostel administration office to get room alloted by paying the fees and submitting the copies of fee receipts in the respective alloted mess in order to get the mess card which is also the hostel card from the mess itself.

Hostel Fee : INR 23000 per year

Admission :

I got into pondicherry University through CUEt entrance exam. The eligibilty for masters in bioinformatics is any science background. The test contains MCQ's of intermediate level with moderate difficulty. The merit lists are released by the university based on marks obtained in entrance. The merit lists are divided among students based on reservation categories.

Interview Experience :

The expertise of the home department had sat on panel. The questions were basic like 1. Why are you interested in bioinformatics? 2. What do you want to become after completing the course.? Etc Nothing to worry they will just validate our candidature through verification of documents.

My Experience

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I'm studying is Disaster Management. The course structure is perfect with knitting our knowledge in disasters both in scientific aspects as well as social aspects. The GIS course is really appreciative as this will be further useful fo us students as a future disaster manager. Though the field practices are less, we will be having a project only semester during our last sem.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good, matching with international standards. NEP 2020 is also followed in this campus. As this is matching international standards mean that it is good for future also. Teacher will teach with power point presentations and you have to give power point presentation for internal assessment and monthly test evaluation will be done. Internal examination value is 40% and end semester value is 60%. If you studied well you will score good. Average marking is 8.2 CGPA in department of Biotechnology.

The syllabus is very light for applied psychology in this university. There are only 3 semesters which have written exams. The last semester is just project and viva.One factor i liked about the curriculum is that in the third semester we can choose our specialty based on our interests.there are 3 options counselling clinical and industrial psychology.
