Course Curriculum Overview
KIIT is new into Aerospace engineering, so yes the course will drastically change as they gear up and hire more professors and lab assistants. But when I was a student, 2017-2021, the lab was completely built with a windmill with an 800 mm cross-sectional length. They also had propulsion labs set up wherein we had regular lab sessions like calculating the calorific value of fuel etc. But yes, in coming days will be much better than what it was when I was a student in the aforementioned years.
Internships Opportunities
Amazon India, stipend of around 60k INR per month in their various divisions. Daikin India. Unpaid but PPO based internship in their sales/service department. Jindal Steel, unpaid but PPO based internship. Voltas Beko etc.
Placement Experience
Third semester students beccome eligible for getting placed in companies or getting PPO based internships. Average company salaries are around five hundred fifty thousand INR per year. With some companies like, Amazon, offering way North of that. Placement conversions are very high as there are a number of recuiters, including mass recruiters to cream companies like Amazon, Jindal, etc. So, if anyone tries enough, they can get placed for sure. Just one thing,
Fees and Financial Aid
KIIT falls in expensive college in terms of its fees. During my days of college, 2017-2021, I paid around four hundred thousand INR each year. So that falls around one million six hundred thousand INR. KIIT has its own incubator wherein you can seek investment support from venture capitalists. Also, in KIIT many companies offer PPO based paid internships. I myself was an intern in Amazon in 2021 where I was paid 60k INR per month as stipend. so opportunities are there to grab.
Campus Life
KIIT has a very rich social and cultural life. There are many events and fests organised throughout the year. KIIT has animal and environmental safety club, which as a matter of fact, was founded by my roommate at the time of my bachelor days. So, in KIIT there are many co-curricular activity to be done. KIIT also has a very large library available wherein you can get books issued or read there in the air conditioned library if you want. There are also interactive displays and boards in case you want to use it to add some visual aid to your learning.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fees in 2017-2021 was around 30k INR per semester. There is a food committee, which consists of senior students, and they can recommend for change in menu and quality of food. KIIT has many hostel options. There are triple sharing, non AC rooms, the one I opted. There are double sharing AC rooms. And also there are single sharing AC rooms. The last one gets quite expensive and is sometimes only offeerd to Phd students. The food is good with various types of foods ranging from biryanis to manchurian to chicken curry and everything. Fish and egg is also available. And there is veg and non veg options available everyday. The local area is also good, albeit, being around a very famous college, is a bit expensive. But some local students who live far enough to not take a hostel, but not that close to travel everyday back and forth for classes, they take rooms outside as well.
Admission
KIIT conducts its own all India entrance examination. The entrance examination is free of cost and candidates are alloted their branches based on their AIR. The counselling is conducted offline at KIIT Bhubaneswar Campus. Each candidate fills a candidate information sheet wherein one has to select 5 branches arranged in chronological order of their preference. With live available seat count on screen, one can see as the counselling progresses that what branch they would be able to get. After your branch is selected, a final sheet for all the fees for hostel and tuition fees are given to each guardian/parent so that they can evaluate it. Overall the process is quite smooth with part online and part offline process. The only thing that I would improve is that the counselling part can be done online as well. Everything else was just fine.
