Course Curriculum Overview
At present MBBS is a 5.5 years course. The study material and curriculum is relevant as practicals are conducted from the 1st year itself and students are given early clinical exposure. From 2nd year, medical students are made acquainted with wards and taught the basics of practical medicine. After 4.5 years of course learning, there is 1 year of compulsory internship for all medical students, where they get hands on experience in all departments of medical hospital. In government colleges stipend is paid during this period which varies from state to state
Internships Opportunities
Well since this is a medical College there is no concept of placements here. After 1 year of internship, you are graduated and then you can attempt the PG entrance examination if you want to pursue higher studies or you can give the OPSC examinations to apply for state government job as a junior resident doctor. You can also apply at private hospitals for job.
Fees and Financial Aid
Course fees is approximately 38000 rs annually in my state government college, that is Odisha. In central institutes this fees is even lower especially AIIMS. Other state colleges have different fee structure. Accomodation charges are around 10K rs annually, and mess charges are around 3.5K rs monthly. There is no scene of placement in medical colleges. After completion of compulsory internship during the final year, students tend to go for PG courses, or apply for government and private posts in hospitals.
Campus Life
Infrastructure provided is excellent. Class rooms are air conditioned, clean. Hostel rooms are also decent. Food and water quality is great. About social life, college events are held regularly. A big intermedics fest is hosted by our college once in every 3 years, called "Paradise", where all other government colleges and private colleges of our state are invited.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are good. Rooms are clean with optimum lighting. It's a triple sharing room for the 1st 2 years and then the next 3.5 years it's a double sharing room. But room space is large enough to comfortably accomodate 3 persons. 4 Boys hostel are present in our campus and 1 Girls hostel complex is present. Meal quality is one of the best in the state, and is very affordable compared to meal prices of other colleges.
