Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum prepares the students to face the world. It provides us with a vast patient load that gives us immense knowledge. They teach us how to deal with patients in future. Areas of improvement- Some teachers just show and read out the slides which makes no sense to the 1st timer students.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internship is mandatory for all students after the completion of the course. Stipend provided is Rs. 30,000 currently. After internship one can apply for job here itself. The salary is aroun Rs. 55,000 for a fresh MBBS passout.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for IMS AND SH during my admission year was Rs. 17,90,000 per annum. NRI fees was Rs. 35,90,000 per annum. Every year there is a hike of 2lakhs in average. Caution fees is Rs. 50,000. No scholarship or financial aid is available.

Campus Life

2.5

The annual fest IMPULSE is held from September to the end of October. It includes fun filled events and several competitions. The library is quite vast and provides all books required for the curriculum. Sports events like SPL, Kabbadi, Kho Kho tournaments take place. No clubs as such for any activity. There is no campus life. Hostels are quite scattered.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The rooms are quite small. There are 3bedded and 2bedded rooms with or without AC according to preference. They provide us with a table and a bed and 1cupboard each. No other facilities are provided. Free Wifi is provided. Food is horrible. Cost of hostel was 1lakh 10thousand for our batch. It has increased to 1,20,000 for our juniors. Mess cost is around Rs.65000.

Admission

I applied for KIIMS. The admission was confirmed. But then got selected at IMS AND SH, so I studied here. The eligibility examm is NEET-UG for UG students and NEET-PG for PG students. Admission process is hassle free

Faculty

3.5

Our classes take place in different forms such as morning class from 7am to 9am where a single teacher teaches 250 students. Then we have our clinical postings from 10am to 1pm where 250 students are divided in group of 25 students and the faculties of different departments teach us, show us practicals and cases. Then we have our clinical classes from 2pm to 4pm where one faculty teaches 250 students. Every academic years there are faculties that teach us like babies and there are some that don't care about what the students learn. However, we get proper guidance for our course. We have 3 internal exams followed by Profesional exam for every year. Students with an attendance below 75% in theory and 80% in practical and marks below 40% in any 2 internal exams get debarred before exams. Usually it numbers around 15students. After the Profesional exam, the number of students who have to appear supplementary is around 20students. The course is relevant to the CBME curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is well organized by the authorities based on the latest medical aspect of our society. Practical classes and regular postings in hospital helps in better understanding. Being the only hospital in nearby cities, our hospital provides us a good exposure to varity of cases. Our Associate proff and HODs also look upto them and help us gain more real world experience. The best aspect of this field or if I have to say Why have I chose it is to serve the society. Absence of well qualified doc at the times of emergency is one of the leading causes of mortality in developing countried like India. Being in this profession, I just want to help people around me.
