The first year MBBS Boys hostel is named Charak .The hostels are primarily available for students from Inside the campus, with fees ranging from 10000 INR per year. Most rooms accommodate 3-4 students, with some facilities offering 2-seater rooms equipped with furniture, AC, and an attached bathroom. However, there are concerns about cleanliness, infrastructure, and overcrowding as some rooms lack closets or shelves for the first two years, and water shortages and mice have been reported. Mess facilities are not uniformly available across all hostels, with only a few hostels inside the campus having a mess, while others rely on three campus canteens.

college campus, Large sized campus of VIMSAR offers many acedamic and non academic activities
Qualified teachers, professors have high degress of education like MD, MS, SS, Phd etc
Good patient flow, patient load in VIMSAR hostpital is very high i.e 3500-4000 per day which is very good for practical purposes

Dislikes

Language problem, most of the students and teachers prefer to teach in local language i.e Odia and sambalpuri.
surrounding areas, places close to the college do not have malls and theatres but it is full of natural beauty
unorganised campus, the campus do not have fixed boundary it is discrete.

Students view on course curriculum

1.In VIMSAR CBME curriculum is followed i.e Compitancy based Medical Education 2. Cirriculum is very well designed such that practical classes run side by side of the theory classes, for example in theory classes you are taught lower limb then in dissection also it will be dissection of lower limb for better understandment. 3. VIMSAR can improve in its technoligal aspect of teaching, there is a 3D stimulation lab in the anatomy department but it is not functional 4. IAT (internal assesment tests) are conducted in a period of 2-3 months and Proff exam is conducted at the end of the year.

Internship opportunities provided by the college

1. Internship in VIMSAR is hisghest in whole india with a monthly stipened of 42075. 2. After finishing 4.5 years of MBBS, you have to do a mandatory internship of 1 year, with postings in several departments

Placement scenario in the campus

1.You do not have to worry about placement after pursuing MBBS from VIMSAR. there are many vacancies available in state and all over india. 2.after completing 4.5 years of MBBS you have to do a mandatory paid inernship of Rs.42075 then after you will gt the degree to be eligible to fill vacancies for various govt. jobs 3.During internship period you will get an amount of Rs. 42075 (with paid holidays) which is higest paid internship in whole india. 4. nearly every student get a descent job as a doctor, many opt to take drop and prepare for NEET PG examination. 5.I may practise as a government doctor in hospital or take drop to study for NEET PG examination

At the time of admission you have to pay fees of 38050 which will include hostel fees of 10000 with subsequent years you have to pay fees of 26000 per year. hostel fees is 10000 for complete 5.5 years additional fees for fest and college resources is required further

1. The annual fest is conducted every year, the fest name of 2024 fest is Prismus, generally held at the time of september-october which can vary due to different situations more over,VIMSAR conducts EUPHORIA, an intermedics fest in which different government and private medical college's students take part. 2. The main library is still in construction(which is going to accesible soon). The existing library has a wide collection of books from differnt authors 3. classroom are enabled with projector on which teachers teaches from powerpoint slides. 4. there are many extracirricular activities and events like journal events, lit fests, sports events, acedamic events conducted during the fests 5. The student of 4th year forms student union. The SSG(Social Service Group) of VIMSAR conducts many blood donation camps and helps poor patient for medical needs

Students view on faculties and examination in the college

1.The faculties are highly qualified with high degrees of education like MD, MS, SS, Phd. 2. Fcaulty student relationship is very friendly, they support you at the time of the examination. 3. The best faculty in 1st year according to me is Dr. janeeta baa mam her teaching technique is very good and also she is very friendly to students. 4. Faculties do have some pros and cons, but overallthey are good and support student. 5. Evey year you have to give 4 exams in which 3 exams is IAT(i.e internal assesment test ) conducted by college itslef and a final exam at the end of year i.e MB exam (Medical Board Exam) also known as Proff exam conducted by university. 6. difficulty level of the exam is good i.e moderate to hard.

Admission process and eligibility criteria

The main reason I choosed this college over other is because VIMSAR is very old college (est. 1959) and old government medical colleges are very good to pursue MBBS. moreover it offers many higher education courses like PG, SS(Superspeciality). The large infrastructure of VIMSAR offers 200 seats. I got selected in SNMCH dhanbad and other colleges of jharkhand but they either have poor infrastructure or do not have much PG seats. I surely got rejected from various Top Ranked colleges like AIIMS and JIPMER, because of very high cutoff of those colleges You have to clear NEET UG with a good rank of 12k to 13k (from general catagory) to get selected in VIMSAR for MBBS course. Admission process requires your NEET UG scorecard, admit card, catagory certificate(if any), a bond etc. which is mentioned in the college website https://vimsar.ac.in

Good patient flow, patient load in VIMSAR hostpital is very high i.e 3500-4000 per day which is very good for practical purposes

Dislikes

Language problem, most of the students and teachers prefer to teach in local language i.e Odia and sambalpuri.
surrounding areas, places close to the college do not have malls and theatres but it is full of natural beauty
unorganised campus, the campus do not have fixed boundary it is discrete.

No toxicity in departments of medicine and surgery especially
Patient Inflow is better than many so called colleges

Dislikes

Infrastructure is not that well developed
New machines should be made available asap

You have to qualify NEET exam with around 630-650 marks out of 720 to take admission here . Marks are variable depending on your state or all india qouta. NEET exam is held once a year in month of may and PCB subject is required.

Life in vimsar

Admission:

The admission process was pretty smooth and nice. I took the NEET exam after that counselling happened. The cutoff for the college was about 625 and I got 621. There were doctors sitting in front of us. After the paperwork was done we were asked to get checked by the doctors of the respective departments I.e. surgery, ent, etc. Then after that, we were introduced to only the anatomy department labs and museum. The thing that I would have liked to get included would be a visit to other departments as well as an introduction to our respective faculties.

Our college is very good and it is serving people of western odisha with good quality of medical support. It has facility including MRI, CT SCAN and also ICU facilities also emergency care there are interns and PGs available even at night also profeesors are available for check up college also has good teaching faculties, library, college canteen, auditorium it also has grounds for football cricket badminton volleyball basketball every thing.

VIMSAR Courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 20 courses offered at VIMSAR. The courses are offered disciplines like Medical. VIMSAR courses includes MBBS, M.D, M.S. Popular courses at VIMSAR are MBBS, M.D, M.S. However, it does not list the MSc in medical microbiology.

The institute provides medical courses at Diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

For MBBS course, the candidates should have passed HSC or 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from any recognized board.
For MD courses, the candidates should have done MBBS from any institute recognized by MCI.
Selection will be done on the basis of NEET score.
Apart from MBBS and MD-MS courses, Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) also offers diploma courses.
The application form along with the brochure can be obtained from the institute’s office.

VIMSAR Sambalpur MBBS first year fee is INR 32,180 (including Admission fee- INR 500, Tuition fee- INR 20,000, Registration fee- INR 125, Other Fee- 11,555). The second, third, fourth and fifth year fees are the same INR 21,555.

Depending on the previous year data, the expected NEET UG Cutoff rank for General Category at VIMSAR is 40,704. This is the first round cutoff rank of VIMSAR NEET UG.
