Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to do engineering and IIT Delhi is one of the best engineering colleges in India for persuing engineering. The curriculam is really vast. In first year we areb taught all the subjects. Some of these are not even related to our domain of engineering. The course should be reduced a bit and more emphasis should be done on practical problems. The professors are knowledgeable but they most of them aren't interested in teaching. Exams are held twice in 1 semester. The difficulty level is a bit tough as the average score is around 40% for most exams.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements in the 5th semester. Multiple companies visit our campus like Ola, Quant, Bajaj etc. Each company makes different number of offers. The highest package last year year was 4 Crore for internation and 1 Crore for Indian role. Most of the students get campus placement. I plan to persue M. Sc. after getting my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee of IIT Delhi is campatively less in comparison to other engineering colleges in India. Tution fee is 1 Lakh for 1 semester and hostel fees is around 80,000 for 1 semester. Financial aid is provided for students whose family income is below 5 Lakh per annum. You can also apply for an internship to earn some money in your free time.
Campus Life
The annuall fest of IIT is RDV. It is held in October for 4 days. The technical fest is Tryst which is held in March and its duration is for 3 days. The library has a lot of books but as the strength of students is too high, so it is a bit difficult to get hands on the required books. The classrooms are well eqipped with whiteboards, chalkboards and projectors. Multiple sports an dother clubs for extracurricular activities are present on the campus. Ther are multiple clubs which usually help the students unwind and have a positive impact on the student's life.
Hostel Facilities
In the hostel room we are just provided with a bed, table, chair and a almirah. The meal quality of the mess is really poor and the mneu remains almost the same throughout the year. The regestration process for getting a hostel is really simple and it is quite affordable.
Admission
Clearing JEE Advance is necessary to take admission into IIT Delhi. Prerequisite to clear advance is to clear to clear JEE Mains with at least 90 percentile. You can find the application form, application fees and application dates on NTA website. The mains exam is held twice in the year. First time in Jan end and second time in April begining. Advance is held in June. The admission process can be made more streamlined by reducing the time taken to register and by having some link between NTA and the abvance website so that information can be transferred and we don't need to fill it again and again.
