Remarks

NIT Calicut is one of the oldest institutes in India, but the constant construction and renovation ensures that it doesn't look ancient. Yes, some of the buildings may look like they're from a long bygone era, but the management ensures that they are well maintained, and new, modern buildings come up on a more than regular basis. The students are provided with all facilities they might need; the college has good, air conditioned labs, a fantastic library, three tennis courts, two basketball courts, indoor badminton courts, grounds for football and cricket, and even a swimming pool. There is a mega hostel coming up, which would have all modern amenities, and house about 1500 students. That should take care of the fact that the current hostels are way too cramped and really not up to the mark.

Entrance Preview

Campus Life

4

Campus life at NIT-C is (if I should put it in one word), alright. It’s overall positive when I say ‘alright’, but then I don’t have a better word for it. Of course, it depends on who you ask and how they can cope up with the life here and the pressure to do well, but I’ll try to give you an as objective as possible answer. The campus isn’t really that huge. At least, the main campus isn’t that huge. There’s a residential campus on the other side of the main campus, but you would hardly have any reason to even go there unless you’re going to stay at the Mega Boys Hostel or Ladies Hostels. Most boys hostels (with the exception of Mega Boys Hostel) are within the main campus. It would take at most 10–15 minutes to go from a spot to another. There’s greenery to a good extent. But the weather may bother you if you don’t like rains. With the whole water shortage problem, sometimes it could get too hot to handle. It’s all relative.

Hostel Facilities

4

the hostels have Common room and Recreational centre where newspapers, magazines, TV’s and indoor sports/games facilities are available. Guest room facilities are available in each hostel for the relatives/guests of hostel inmates on chargeable basis. Free twenty four hour internet and computational facilities are available in almost all hostels; it is getting extended to other hostels too. Twenty four hour water and electricity (with DG power back up) is part of the all the hostels. Mini canteen, milma, amul kiosks, DTP centre, co-operative stores, Text book centre, are functioning in Students Amenity Centre. Two Power laundries are also functioning in the hostels The ladies hostel has the following facilities like ladies gym, stitching and tailoring centre, hostel library, fitness parlour, indoor sports centre, DTP centre, Ice cream shop, extension of co-operative store. A night canteen and an amul kiosk also fun

Alumni/Alumna

Nitc alumni association There are many notable NITC alumni that I can think of who have significantly contributed to the development of NITC and allround growth of the students. However being a student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering I guess one person who stands out from all the others is Mr. Prakash Shetty, founder and MD of Gasotech India Ltd. Gasotech Consultancy & Marketing Services was founded in the year 2005 by the Technocrat Mr Prakash Shetty having 20 years of experience as a Rotating Machinery specialist with India’s premier Engineering Consultancy organization M/s Engineers India Limited (EIL).

Exam Structure

The National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are autonomous public institutes of higher ... and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programs in NITs are through the highly competitive Joint Entrance Examination (Main). .... science, and technology and to provide consistent governance, fee structure, and rules across the NITs.

Admission

Ministry of external affairs. This is a procedure only followed for foreign catagory students to encourage other Nationals to know about India. Cultural exchange and knowledge exchange program. It needs students to sit for entrance exam and three more vivas to followed by. You need to pass all the examination to confirm admission. The fee structure is same as NRI STUDENTs which is pretty high.

Faculty

4

Highly qualified, friendly, very strict All the professors are properly qualified and maintain good relations with the students. A very healthy percentage of the staff is senior, and junior professors teach only first and second year students. NIT Calicut is currently mentoring NIT Sikkim, which is why a few professors have left recently for there, but that hasn't reduced the quality of staff, students claim

As I'm a first year student I don't know much about placements but I think it starts by 8th sem for b arch students. Placements for barch are low compare to btech. But as this is a prestigious institution the best firms come here and there is a unit called CGPU for helping students regarding placements here.

I like architecture because of its creatove and practicality. And in pur college they are making sure of combining those two together. Their teaching methods are good for me because i am learning so much. But not for everyone they are sl friendly in outside i think if they are so friendly in college . The students might like the letures more. The jury and exams are mostly collide that is a not good thing for us. They are making sure of the real world works so that we can actually survive after the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Im a passionate student architect. From childhood, I had this dream of becoming a creator. So I chose this course. There is a good ratio of faculty student ratio in the private colleges all over india. I'm not sure about the teaching method because this is more like a self learning course. But faculties are also helpful most of the time. Jury subjects are tougher than written examinations.

Remarks:

Ours is a National College. People from different background from different parts of india do come to study in college.I can't say that The Faculty in our College is too good. But they are quite okay. The faculties of the first year Maths are too poor. Most of them are ADHOC. Some Faculty treat the students as their own children, being liberal to them, while some at the same time just know how to teach, not to mingle with the students. Rest all branches dont have that much placement opportunity as compared to CSE. Positive 1.One of the biggest quality is the exposure that a student gets while studying in this college. The lectures are of high standards and the professors are of international demand. 2.An another good quality is the placement that we get from this college.people from across Kerala always praise the high quality of placements that we get in this college Negative 1.The lecture classes are very much one way, rather than being more interactive 2.Mosquito in some hostels
