Course Curriculum Overview

In Nit Rourkela, Metallurgical and materials enginneering is the oldest branch. This college consists of advanced equipment that are not present in most of the colleges. The faculty is also friendly and done many research projects and are very well experienced.

Class Size: 88Course Fees: INR 200000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Students are allowed to sit for internship in their 3rd semester. The average stipend is nearly 30k. The intership is done after 6th semester. Many receive pre placement offer after completing the internship. good number of companies visit for interns.

Placement Experience

Students are allowed for placements from 7th semester. Average package is 15lpa and highest package is 55lpa. Big companies do come for placement and almost has a 100 percent placement record for some branches. Companies such as microsoft, flipkart, ZS, accenture, TATA, shell, deloitte, intel, qualcomm, etc visit for placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost here is a bit low compared to many private institutions. There are many scholorships for students based on different criteria. There will be no campus employement. The total fee for a semester is nearly 1 lakh for general and for reservations it varies based on the category. The tution fee is 68,500/- and the remaining other fees are 32,500/-. For reservation students, there is 100% tution fee waiver.

Campus Life

The campus life is decent. There are total 4 fests in an academic year. Tech, cultural and sports fests are Innovision, Cosmopolitan and Nitrutsav, Vriddhi respectively. The college has central library and the books and journals that are mostly required are available. The classrooms are mostly digital and coolers are also present. There are many sports and extracurricular activities. Many sports grounds and a complex is also there in this college. Many clubs run in the student activity center based on tech, culture, film, art, socio, ect. and have a good impact on student life.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facility is quite good. The rooms are decent enough to accomodate for 2 people. The mess food and meal quantity is average, sometimes not so good. The hostel will be alloted after admission on random basis. The hostel rent and other expenses are covered in semester fees. There will be Hall day and garden party once an academic year.

Admission

Entrance exam for admission in Nit Rourkela is JEE MAINS. NTA website is the portal to apply for this exam. Some documents are required such as Aadhar, 12th mark sheet. Eligilibility for the examination is 12th passout. The minimum cutoff depends on reservation. The grading is done on basis of percentile method. The cutoff varies depending on reservation. For general category-90-91, for EWS-78-80, for OBC-73-74, for SC-51-52, for ST-38-40. The exam will be conducted twice a year and a student can write a maximum of 3 years. There will be 2 shifts on a day for 3 hours and exam will be done for 4 days. The timings are 9-12PM and 3-6PM. The exam is based on 11tha and 12th standard syllabus.

Placements are quite good. Thats precisely why i chose this college . The highest offer last year was 52 lpa . Other than that average package is 6 to 8 lpa for cse students . Mostly all students get placed . A few companies that come for placements are Infosys, TCS , JP Morgan , Deloitte , Bookings holidays , Cognizant, Accenture .

Placement Experience:

After 3rd semester the students are eligible for internship but after 4th sem the students are eligible for Plecement. More the 95% students get the placements. Highest package is aprox Rs.4300000 and lowest is 300000. My plan is for higher studies after getting degree.

ITER SOA is quite intimidating!!

Placement Experience:

IBM, Siemens, Philips and many other companies and even the chio makers and computer makers are also one of the main share holders in placements. For CSE department the average placements are of 15-20 lakhs but for our department the average drops down to 6 lakhs per annum.

Honest and Genuine review of NIT Rourkela

So I choose these college over the others because of its relevant name and the hype of this college In India as It is Institute of national importance And also a government backed college and it is one of the most demanded college. So the colleges which I have applied to are DTU, NSUT, Nit Trichy, Nit Warangal, Nit Surat Kal And top 7 iits. No I was not rejected from the other college which I have applied to but the combination of branching and the college value Doesn't satisfied me for taking admission in that colleges. So the admission process for the Nit Rourkela Is that the eligibility criteria is 75% in 12th class And second criteria is to clear the entrance exam which is the JEE mains and also scoring a very good marks in it. Then by the centralised Josaa Counselling student will fill their choices ,lock and get allotments in the upcoming rounds of the josaa counselling. The ending rank to take admission in this college in the EC branch is about a 6000-7000 rank in the jee mains exam for the other state people. Everything about NIT ROURKELA ( campus life, placements, fees )

The best aspects of the college is the campus. It's the second largest campus in India. A lush green campus with a very good mess facilities. The buildings are great. Hostels are also good. Evrything about infrastructure was a plus point. Only negative point is the non availability of airport due to which some companies refuse to come a pick students.
