Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I choose the course because of my own passion, I wanted to be a surgeon, and also it is the only job that provides the opportunity to serve our people, society and country directly in ground level. Number of faculties varies from subjects to subjects. On average 15 faculties are there per 250 students. Faculties are highly qualified, but, I felt some of them lack the skill of teaching, and engaging students to the subject in a beautiful way, even though they are highly qualified in their subjects. Internal Exams are conducted after every 3 or 4 months. At the end of each year, one students have to appear for the final University exams, which are very difficult to write as there is huge syllabus and the answers to be written are very lengthy.

Internships Opportunities

4

In MBBS course, Internship is compulsory and it is included in the last year of the course. There are many paid internship available in various departments like microbiology, pathology, for paramedical students.

Fees and Financial Aid

In government colleges, the college fees are low. Hostel fees varies depending upon the food cost. There are many scholarships opportunities like FFE ONGC NSP JBNSTS( for West Bengal students) Swami Vivekananda Merit cum scholarship ( WB)

Campus Life

2.5

Life in campus is good, but it may feel bad in 1st year Annual fests are held in every colleges, and apart from that, freshers, hostel fest and many other sports and cultural festives are organised time to time. The library is well equipped with books, but medical books mostly are there. Classroom is well equipped with projectors, mic system. There are many cultural and sports club functioning in the college.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel in my college is awesome. And it is the most favourite thing to me in my college. Meal quality is good, and bengali foods have lots of options and menus, which is good. Hostel is provided as per the availability and the home distance of the applied candidates. There are many pgs available, near the campus

Admission

Admission was through NEET UG exam. NEET exam is conducted every year in the may of month. 12th pass candidate can apply for it by going through NTA.GOV website. Application fees for unreserved catagory is ?1500. Reservation benefits are there. In my opinion the examination should be conducted atleast twice in a year, like many other entrance exams.

Course is very vast but if you study daily then it will be easy. Don't fall for freshers bias. Exams are definitely easier than neet. Part syllabus completion test are taken after completing a chapter in anatomy department and vivas are arranged to prepare us for physiology exam in every 2 weeks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very noble. It gives us the power to heal others. When I was a child, i was impressed by the ability and skills of a doctor. The patient family were treating him like god. So i decided to pursue it because of the amount of respect and wealth we gain. In the real world it helps us to become a good person, interact with the injured society and connect to the people emotionally. Teaching methods could be improved by giving more and more real life examples and exposing to the wards and clinics. Learning is more fun when we do more practicals. The college must ensure that more and more practical classes and clinical exposure is given to the students so that they can learn effeciently. The cases of the cirriculum should be given to the students to look how they handle it.

Extracurricular activities and labs should be given more importance and practical education needs to be promoted more, otherwise the experience is quite satisfactory. You will enjoy these 5.5 years in the college and hostel to your fullest.
