Remarks
I have cuet examination to get into this prestigious university. The admission is based on merit / cuet score. Cutoff usually is around 300 for general category in cse whereas it goes far down in other branches like mechanical, instrumentation engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as it is something that I liked a lot. Computer science is the course of the future and I am a lot interested in programming and developing technology for the user. Faculty and student ratio is very good as batch size is just about 40(in cse). All the faculties are highly qualified some are from IITs , IISC BANGALORE, nits , jadavpur university etc. mostly having PhDs in their respective field , some are pursuing their PhDs.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are available as per departments and profesors . So it can vary a lot . Currently I don't have any idea about good internships but some seniors got really big intership opportunities. Hopefully things will get better in the upcoming years
Fees and Financial Aid
29k for the first year rest 3 years 22k inr. Scholarships are available as per nsp portal. As this is a central university a lot of subsidised policies for economically backward students are also present. Students can talk with university for more details .
Campus Life
There is a annual fest known as ananta fest. It has started since last year after COVID times. It's not that big but it is slowly getting bigger and better . Library is equipped with a lot of books and journals for all departments and branches . Very well maintained and quiet place. Proper labs and projector rooms are available but they need to update and invest in technology a lot. Sports culture is really good. We have basketball court , cricket net pitches , gymnasium, rock climbing centre , table tennis, boxing ring and a lot more . I usually spend a lot of time in Gym. We have to pay only 20 rupees every month . So it is very cheap. Students have organised Coding clubs and this year we are trying to get GOOGLE DSC in our campus. So in the future years I am very optimistic about the development of such clubs. There is a very active literary club , folk dance and art centre is also there , their performances are enacted in mini auditorium chauras.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are really less , new hostel construction has been a top priority for the officials and the political parties, but as of now the problem still remains . Hostel food is not that great but is average. 2500 monthly fees for food. I currently live outside campus in a rented accommodation. Rents here is about 2.5k to 4k per person , if a person decides to live in chauras area , but in Srinagar it varies from 3k to 5k in some parts as rooms are sometimes full.
