What Students Say?
Likes
- faculties, courses, research opportunities
- very diverse and competent peer group forcing you to stay on your toes
Dislikes
- very very very hectic campus life with almost constant engagements
- a very competetive and cut throat culture which makes it hard to forge true relationships
Course Curriculum Overview
This course made the most sense given my future ambitions of wanting to be a consultant. The student to faculty ratio is almost 1:30. All the faculty are extremely expereinced with some fsculties being industry leaders in their respective fields. Exams are super easy to pass as long as you pay even an iota of attetion in class. It is actively difficult to fail.
Placement Experience
Summer internship placements happen in the very first trimester. Final placements happen in the 5th. Almost all major companies come, though there is clear focus on finance, consulting and marketing with fewer ops roles.
Fees and Financial Aid
Cost of study is very high, but then so is the return on investment. It is on par with other institutes of its segment. Scholarships are present from the institute, state and central governments, but are somewhat hard to get as roughly only 10 to 15 stydents are selected for the same.
Campus Life
Social life is very active with a diverse set of students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Clubs and committees are abundand and very active, though hard to join as they carry PORs which can be added to the resumes. Classrooms and libraries are extremely sophisticated and comfortable.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are very good and are located inside the campus. The mess is student run and provides above average food and menu variety. Rooms are very well equiped and are single, so afford a lot of otivacy
Admission
Entrance was through CAT, pretty easy to crack. I got 98+ without any preparation. All the details are available in the CAT website, with a common application process for all IIMS. I did not have any reservarion process. CAT cutoff for our batch was close to 97.5 on an average.
Interview Experience
No GD, only a single PI. It was mostly academic centric with a lot of conceptual questions from my B.Tech syllabus. The interview took an abstract turn later as I was asked to name random wars from the 18th century. Only prep i did was reading the newspaper.
Other Applied Colleges
IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITM] | Master of Business Administration [MBA]
