Remarks

My primary and only consideration for choosing IIM Indore was the placement scenario which caused me to choose it over NITs which I was getting through JEE Mains. I had got confirmed admission in NIT Bhopal. A lot of people have been asking me about the placement scenario of IPM students at IIM Indore, and the common question encountered was 'Why haven't you given CAT?' The easy answer is 'I am not eligible for it.' The eligibility for CAT requires graduation in any discipline. As I am an 18 year old student who has just passed out 12th, how would I give CAT. Second thing is CAT selection criterion is such that you require 4 years of engineering from NIT or IIT, then 2 years of work experience and then 2 years PGP at IIM, which would take 8 years to pass from IIM, while I would be getting placement through IPM just after 3 years, which would be an internship of 2-3 months wherein the average stipend per month goes ~~ 2 lakh per month, after that if best match of the company-employee is found, you can get a PPO(PPOs for IPM have avg placement of *36.5* lakh per year at IIMI) or else you can sit in campus placements along with the PGP folks(who give *CAT*) wherein the avg placement goes nearly 30-35 lakhs per year. The IPM students have relevant coursework in management which causes them to beg better placements than the PGP peers. The IPM students get best placements in Investment banking, risk management, and strategy , management consulting(the top firms being *Goldman Sachs, Ambit capital, jpmc, Morgan Stanley, and cherry on the top being *BCG, BCN, EY, Arthur D Little and other consulting firms* as well as the top placements in GenMan and marketing are also begged by them, the average placements when you see the consolidated report of 2023, you will see 32.2 LPA which is taken after taking average of students across PGP and IPM as they are placed together and get the same opportunities, IPM being preferred over engineers by many firms including the ones named above. As I am a part of the process now and have been researching through a lot before selecting IIM Indore over the IITs, I know IIM Indore IPM students have better average and median placements as compared to the PGP ones. Now those people who ask might also be able to answer.... Why I and 90000+ students like me aspire for IIM Indore every year. But top 150 candidates get a chance to be in the college(who have 95+ percent in 10th 12th board exams, exceptional state, national level extra curriculars as well as 99+%ile in the IPMAT entrance.) I am sure that those 150 are exempted from CAT because of luck some may say or because they are *exceptional* . As exceptions exist *I will never give CAT and beg better placements than those who will clear it*

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

150 students are there in a batch of IPM, 150+450 during the final 2 PGP years. 3:1 ratio is there for nearly all years and batches. There are students from every part of the country, there is gender, caste , class and regional diversity in the college. There is no majority of any state. There is collaborative learning and a lot of group assignments and evaluation components ranging from presentations to research papers to corporate challenges. Peer learning is a crucial part of academic and non academic activities. There is a class participation component in 6/8 courses in every term. Yes, most of the students attend classes for learning. I do attend all the classes.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

There are 100 percent summer placements, All the internships are paid, IIM Indore Summer Internship Placements 2024 reports are released. A total of 140 recruiters, including 55 new recruiters, visited the campus to provide internship opportunities to the batch of 606 students. IIM Indore’s highest stipend was INR 6 lakhs, and its average stipend was INR 2.74 lakhs. IIM Indore witnessed a 50% increase in the highest stipend and a 37% increase in the average stipend. Almost 40% of students get a PPO. People do dream for final placement even after PPOs are accepted. The EPGP students have enough work experience and are placed in their respective domains and the process is recruiter based mostly. They have incremental placements from their previous experiences. The PGP and IPM batches are placed together, there is an equal representation of freshers and work experience guys in the batch. There are summer placements after the PGP year 1 and Final placements after the course completion. Consulting, Finance, Sales and Matketing, Analytics and Product Management are the main areas of employment. Niche firms like BCG, Kearney, JPMC, Goldman Sachs, HUL, Amazon etc hire from the campus directly.

The average placements ranged from 25-30 LPA in the last three years for the PGP IPM batches. Highest may go upto 1 Cr CTC, lowest has gone down upto 11 LPA. All the students get placed by hook or by crook in the end. It's a 2 week long process.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are private and public sector scholarships available for students, for IPM first 3 years incur a fee of 5 lakhs per year and 10 lakh per year for PGP 2 years. In total it incurs 40 lakh fee, it is one of a kind programme by the BLACKI IIMs. In India it is the best for UG+ PG. Foreign UG colleges are not worth it. NBFA is available for people with less than 12 lakhs of annual income, approximately 20% of the batch of students gets it and there are other scholarships, total students availing scholarships is close to 30%. Average amount for NBFA is the interest on the loan of students l, while for other scholarships, it varies from 40k per year to entire tuition fee of students. There is only a fee of 5 lakhs, mess fee of 50k per year can be considered, travel and other expenses are born by the institute. The tickets during vacations etc has to be given by students themselves.

Campus Life

2.5

There are a lot of trees and grass on campus, but getting some exercise every day is easy because the classroom building is not close to the dorms. There is enough infrastructure, and there are even food stands, so you don't have to leave to get what you need. They can use either of the two auditoriums. This one has more experience and is used for introductions and special talks. This one has less experience and is used for student events. For the comfort of the students, the academic building has classrooms with air conditioning, food services, and people who can help with technology. Since the school is not in the middle of Indore, it is easy for students to take free shuttle buses that go into the city. The school is easy to find because the front door has two big golden arches. Sports fans can use the chess board, the gym, the soccer tables, the basketball and tennis fields, the Olympic-sized pool, and other sports facilities. The campus is always busy with various activities that ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone. It hosts cultural, sports, and management fests such as Iris, Atharv Rannbhoomi, and Utsaha. Students also organize their own events including movie nights in the auditorium and management-focused activities. The student activity council for different programs is highly active, offering numerous opportunities for learning and practical experience. Interest groups are there, and the college environment is consistently engaged in various activities, providing an energetic atmosphere that encourages active participation.

Hostel Facilities

2

Yes, hostels are separate. Boys are not allowed to enter girls hostel but the reverse is true. A separate part of the campus for IPM students is currently being built. It will have an academic building and other resources just for them. There are 18 student residences at IIM Indore right now. There are both single rooms and rooms with three or four people sharing for IPM students. The hostels are clean and cozy. There are also residences for married people. You can play volleyball, table tennis, and badminton almost everywhere you stay. There are many places to eat near the dorms, so students can choose from a wide range of foods on campus. Extra housing is also available for students in executive classes and for the teachers, all hostels are guarded. There are no constraints on timing, the hostel fee is included in the course fee itself, it's not separate. Allocations are randomized after selections. There are only sharing rooms for IPMERs, all the necessary facilities are provided by college itself, there is a common room in every hostel. The curriculum is not much difficult ,if you have studied the subject not much deeper you can still score good marks. The good aspects of the course is the relaxed studies and calm environment with some good professors. And the bad aspects is the lower placement , internship opportunities and lesser exposure to real world industries. We have 2 mid test and 1 sem exam every semester so, for a year it will be twice of that. Around 3 to 4 classes happen everyday and the timings are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm . Students get free time of around 20 to 30 minutes between every class minimum rest depends upon the professor. The teaching methodology is good with smart boards , projectors , it becomes easy for professors to make sure the problems understood by us. I admire our one of the professor Dr. Mangal deep gupta , as his connection with students is just like tge friends, he always make sure that every student feel the study and enjoy it. The one i don't much admire is Mrs. Reenu maam , she teaches us professional communication , we get so bored while the class ,that's the only reason not to admire. There is a rule for 75% attendence and it is also required to avail the scholarship . In btech department ,5 marks are allocated to attendance only so it's upto student if he /she want's to lose 5 marks and scholarship or not by decreasing attendence . In most cases , professors helps if valid reason given , other you will not be eligible for the exams.
