Remarks

The eligibility for joining the Bsc IT course in Jai Hind College is minimum 60% marks in 12th class with Maths as a compulsory subject . The admission process in 2020 was based on marks obtained in 12th Maths and the shortlisting was according to merit lists. Total 3 lists were released with the third list closing at around 70 marks in Maths. There was no other entrance test except this . However from 2022 onwards , seperate college entrance test for JHC Bsc IT is taken on top of the basic eligibility criteria which the students have to pass in order to secure a seat

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is fairly up to date with the latest technology trends such as basics starting from C, C++,Java all the way to Python , AI/ML , Cloud computing etc. Most of the teachers in the department are MSc graduates with fairly good knowledge . Some of the faculty however struggle to update themselves with the latest technology and the lack of knowledge of which the effects can be seen in the practical lectures Overall , compared to other colleges in Mumbai , Jai Hind College has one of the best IT courses to offer with the autonomous accreditation helping to update the curriculum frequently without needing to wait for the MU to update the same. The attendance system is very strict and the department faculty is not at all supportive of extra curricular activities , be it sports or cultural . You will face a lot of problems from the faculty if you indulge in any other activity outside of the department even if within the college . Be wary of this before taking admission .

Internships Opportunities

2.5

The internships offered to the students from the college were all unpaid with internships for social media marketing , graphic design etc being offered by Aashman foundation . The internship opportunities are less comparatively and students have to find internships on their own with negligible assistance from the college.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for placements in Semester 5 ie Third Year with companies like Deloitte , Wipro , EY , Schbang , DEShaw and other smaller companies coming to campus during our batch in 2022 . Not sure of the status now The placements are a lot better compared to IT of other colleges as almost 70% of our batch got placed . The average package ranges around 3.2 LPA while the highest offered by a company was 12 LPA but however , no student was able to crack the interview for the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees as of now costs anywhere from 30-38k per year which is comparable to other top colleges in Mumbai . Within this , you are getting good technology equipments like the computer labs are all fairly up to date with the current PC industry standards. There is also 2-3 private scholarships namely from Sumitomo which students below the specified annual family income can apply.

Campus Life

3

Jai Hind College has mutiple smaller fests as all the departments in the college has their own seperate club and fest . The biggest club of the 5-6 clubs in JHC is the Social & Dramatic Union ( SDU ) and the annual fest is called SHOUTT which is a fairly big fest but not comparable to fests like Kshitij , Kiran , Malhar . As discussed earlier , the distribution of the students into multiple smaller clubs disable the college from doing a unified large fest. The IT department's club is called DotComClub and the fest is called Cyberstrike which is a technical fest including gaming , coding and other tech events . Generally , the students have the choice to join which club they want .However , if you are an IT student , the department will keep you limited only till DCC and you won't be allowed to participate in any other clubs or their events.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Parricularly the modules which focused on animal science & botany, the curriculum was built to learn from basics to the advance level towards research area of biology which impressed me alot. The focus on animal biology, statistics, cell biology & genetics, ecology & wildlife conservation, Immunology & biotechnology leads a foundation to successfully enter the real-world and apply this knowledge for better cause of humans as well as animals. As the therotical teaching method can differ from on-hand experience on field there is a need to improve the course curriculum around this issue. The learning period was designed perfectly in-course of the prepaption time between each test and it wasn't difficult if we are well prepared.

It's average or below average in term of real world experience curriculum there no such thing. Teaching is not bad there are big screen in class to teach from and blackboard. But most students don't know anything about the real world projects and techniques. Syllabus is controlled by mumbai University is too told and does not have any use in real world industries which need to be changed and most important since IT sector is something which advances and changes each year

Course Curriculum Overview:

I\n Chose this course in specific this college.Because first of all , it was afforrable as compared to others institutes.I can say that we weren't getting any experience which can prepare us for the real world experience like we were made to sit in workshops which was not at all connected to our curriculum. And then later on, when we said we don't want to attend it.We were given lame excuses like this will help you. And we will give you certificates for this. And later on , we were given nothing. Course needs a lot of improvement.I guess because they doesn't favor student feedbacks. The exam are typically in june and depends upon ycmou college dosent have any role to it and its not that difficult with basic knowledge you can score well.
