Course Curriculum Overview
Parricularly the modules which focused on animal science & botany, the curriculum was built to learn from basics to the advance level towards research area of biology which impressed me alot. The focus on animal biology, statistics, cell biology & genetics, ecology & wildlife conservation, Immunology & biotechnology leads a foundation to successfully enter the real-world and apply this knowledge for better cause of humans as well as animals. As the therotical teaching method can differ from on-hand experience on field there is a need to improve the course curriculum around this issue. The learning period was designed perfectly in-course of the prepaption time between each test and it wasn't difficult if we are well prepared.
Internships Opportunities
There are monthly camp set-ups at the university for different departments with internship opportunities & volunteering with the NGOs for courses like zoology. I had a great time volunteering at cats care progroam at maheshwari udyan, it gave me experience in animal care & behaviour field.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year-wise fee structure was around Rs. 12,000/ yr as per category (NT-D caste reservations)which included tution fees, registration fees, admission fees, development fees and other compulsary charges required during the course completion. However, lab fees and other miscellaneous expenses were separate such as stationary, prints, etc. While, the total fees structure for my batchmates was Rs. 20,000/ yr. There are various scholarships available on merit along with reservations and financial aid for medically-challenged students & staff.
Campus Life
There were many social events conducted like annual function, festive celebrations, etc. Every department had arranged separate fests evrey year to represent their field of study. We had a huge library in the university building with all required books, along with online journal access. Smart boards were used for every module which helped us get better view of the study materials & diagrams. WE had yearly sports week with different in-door & out-door games, theatre and extra curricular events & courses like beach visits for concology, Birds of Mumbai course, Cosmetology, matheran hill station trip, etc. THere were various student-run social groups like dance society, theatre group, sports group, etc which helped holistic student growth, develop essential skills like teamwork & learn social skills.
Admission
I choose this college considering the modules the course offered along with the extra courses available which differ from the other colleges. One of the other reason being that similar course was closed for application that year due to covid pendamic. The restrictions of the pendamic made it quiet difficult to apply colleges on time due to late results. The admission process was smooth along with the documents submission & fee payment.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio was 50/15, the faculty members were helpful, friendly, knowledgable & accessible for doubt clearance towards students. I particularly liked Ms. Deepti Despande, she was senior professor who really went out of the way to help me with my project during zoo fest. There wasn't particularly any faculty i did not like as everyone did a great job on their own modules. There were total of 4 exams in a year which included 2 tests & 2 semester exams. As, per the last year data out of 20 students who did major in zoology 2 failed but rest passed with good grades.
Interview Experience
No, the admissions were based on merit or percentage scored in 12th standard. We had a introductory interview which mainly focused on education background details. The admission process was online through the mumbai university.
Night Life
The university did not have a student accomdation on campus. There was a cafeteria with pocket-friendly food for students. The university area was accessible only for students. There were famous places around the college like maheshwari udyan, seven garden, popular restuarents like Cafe madras, Ramashray, cafe mysore, etc. The locality was safe to roam during day time.
Other Applied Colleges
