- College Infrastructure, and Practice schools which provide internship opportunities without looking for one
- Cultural drive among students to organised great events and festivals despite budgetary constraints
- NO reservation policy leads to better quality of students at BITS
Dislikes
- Distance from a metro city is too much, students had to travel till DELHI or JAIPUR (both atleast 200 kms) to buy any useful resources
- advantage to students of Birla schools who get direct admission without appearing for BITSAT
- Faculty quality deteriorating with time as no professors want to live in such a secluded college
Course Curriculum Overview
No reservation policy, which leads to a demographic and rational class group Student Faculty ratio was healthy at 70:1 Great internship opportunities are provided directly by the college through its Practice School program Exams and tests were apt and sufficient to cover the course curriculum.
Internships Opportunities
ZINNOV MGMT CONSULTING: The internship offered live experience in the outside world and involved stakeholder management and working on live projects I was a pivotal part of the engagement team that provided solutions to a Russia-based tech company. The project length spanned 6 months.
Placement Experience
100% placements (or atleast that's how placement teams crunch data so it looks that way). However, with time, inclination of students towards joining core branches has wore off and most of the students aim to get placed in either coding, consulting or product management jobs
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a 5-10% yearly feehike. For eg. in 2014, fees were about 90k per semester, which rose to 1.5 lakhs per semester in my fourth year. However, Students get Merit cum Need based scholarships, for students with GPA above 7, for which proofs need to submit, which verify a family income above 4.5 Lakhs (this figure may have changed now) There is also a merit-based scholarship for which there is no income investment proof needed
Campus Life
BITS Pilani hosts one of the best campus festivals, be it APOGEE, OASIS, or BOSM. BITS offers immense infrastructural space for hosting events of such festivals Students get multiple opportunities to rise and shine in these extracurricular activities
Hostel Facilities
BITS hostels got renovated during 2014-19 period, hence nwo all the hostels are newly renovated with top amenities. Food quality at BITS mess is okay. There is no good outside PG or rental facility available around Pilani Campus
Admission
ELIGIBILITY: 60% marks in STEM courses during the 12th. Admission via 3 processes: BITSAT, State Board Toppers get direct admission. Top rankers of Birla High School and Birla Balika Vidyapeeth get direct admissions for MSc degrees.
