What Students Say
Likes
- Being a Government national college, the diversity is very vast and it helps us understand about the different communities and cultures.
- The college provides very educated professors who help you achieve your passion and enhance your vision. They provide information regarding the books you could refer which usually doesn’t happen in other colleges or universities.
- The college assigns a group of 10 students to a particular mentor who guides you not only through technical vision but also in the mental health of the student.
Dislikes
- Being a south indian, I wasn’t fluent in hindi. This made a hinderence to my study life. But the professors started explaining each class in english later on after my request
- The less number of placements could be an issue
- The end time for girls is 10pm which is according to me a decent timing. But I think they should atleast let the parcels come past the college main gate after 10. Because the boys can collect it from there but the girls cannot.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have always wanted to do hardware engineering and this course has only helped me in doing so. Especially in a rising semiconductor industry of India, choosing to study hardware shall be a wise option. The curriculum is too huge to be covered completely but all these has to known by a future engineer aswell. The class timings are usually from 9-5 with a 2 hour lunch break. It is quite hectic in my opinion.
Internships Opportunities
The summer internship is the months of may-july. The various companies offers are from ICICI Bank, Bajaj motors, JP Morgan and so on. The roles offered defers from company to company whether it be technical, accounting or HR. Projects shall defer according to the role you want to perform later on in the company.
Placement Experience
There are campus placements provided by the college. Students shall be adopting for placements in their final years. The visited companies are Apple, JP Morgan, Meesho, DE Shaw, Salesforce, Adobe, Airtel, Amazon, Bajaj motors and so on. Highest salary id 64LPA, average is 18.39LPA for the CSE branch. The overall percentage of students getting placed is 82% for both BTech and BArch with an average package of 13.2LPA. I shall be trying to get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am paying the normal fee without any category or reservation. Since I'm in 2nd year, for 3rd sem I paid ?82,715 and for 4th sem I paid ?81,950 in which the hostel is NOT included. The hostel fee is ?32,000 per sem. So if you are opting for hostel, the total fee shall be ?2,28,665. The institution fee shall vary from sem to sem. The admission/ registration fee- 1000,development fee- 2400, library- 1750, computer/internet- 4000, sports- 1000,tech fest- 1800, student welfare -1000, placement- 2000, examination- 1000, laboratory- 2000,alumni activity fee- 1500 which is already included in the sem fee. Campus Life
Campus life is very vibrant and glamorous. The campus is full of greenery and calmness. The interaction between the students are also very nice in the college. the annual/technical fests are sphinx and blitz with a duration on 3-4 days. Usually in the months on november and feb respectively. Their team bring in the best performers and liveliness during the fests. The concerts here are the best especially considering the fact that its free of cost. The classrooms can easily accommodate 140-150 students and the technical provisions are available like the E-learning boards. The sports activities can be easily accessed by the students. There are various sports scholarships provided by the college aswell. There are various clubs whether it be technical, cultural and so on.
Hostel Facilities
There shall be a table, a chair, a bed and a cupboard provided by the hostel side. The room is quite is quite spacious for a single student. They provide different meals in a week whether it be south indian cuisine or north indian cuisine.
Admission
I had applied to other government engineering colleges in Kerala but I was soo excited when I got admission MNIT. It was like a dream come true. I have always wanted to study in a prestigious college where I could know me better and my abilities too. I never got any rejection from other colleges. You'll be wanting to write JEE mains and get a respectable percentage to get admission in the college. You'll get to know via email or the website if they have accepted your admission
Faculty
Currently, the faculty to student ratio is 1:23. The faculties always keep a friendly relationship with all the students and does keep the boundaries at the same time. The faculties always ensure to help you through your problems or difficulties whether it be academics or personal life. My favorite professor is M.M.Sharma, the HOD of my department. He always tried to push me to do my best and helped me with my academics. So far, there are no faculties that I personally hate or keep a grudge on. Per sem there shall be 2 exams - midsem and endsem. Being a national college, the difficulty level of the questions are comparatively high than other colleges. 1-10 students among 120 tend to fail according to the courses. The course curriculum is vast and hectic.
Night Life
The end timing for the girls is 10pm and there are none present for the boys. There are various cafeterias present inside the hostels where you could have a nice bowl of maggi and chat with your friends. Since the college is enormous, so is the hostel with a lot of space for late night walks. The college has a fighter helicopter at Pratap stal where you could sit and have some peace. The campus is in the middle of a city so accessibility to things are very easy. Campus is very safe to roam around at night.
