Remarks
It's a perfect college and degree for anyone aspiring to get into a master's course with the minimal fee. Of course the package scale of some other courses is way high but again ROI in OR is way higher.
Entrance Preview
I cleared DU's entrance of MSc. Operational Research and got assigned Ramjas as my college for all documentation and all. Yes, there was an interview process and merit list was out. The reason for choosing this course was pretty obvious, I wasn't that good in Stats to clear MSc. Statistics and couldn't clear MCA(remained in the waiting list) and thus the only course which included everything as a subject matter I needed for my career, was in OR and thus I am here. Turned out to be a perfect choice.
Course Curriculum Overview
It's like a perfect course one could ever wish for. OR includes Operations Research subjects, Statistics, Econometrics, Marketing, Programming Languages and Databases, Financial Management and what not? Saying stuff like was there any focus on Practical Learning would be wrong, coz every single subject focuses on practical use of it only.
Internships Opportunities
College doesn't provide any internship, but as an MSc first-year grad student you get a lot of recognition when you apply elsewhere.
Placement Experience
Pretty good in comparison to others given that OR. department's Placement Cell is really really new. Major companies till now include- Delloite, EY, PwC, EXL, Smartcube, Cognizant, SmartCube. Min package is 5lpa and avg goes around 6.5.
College Events
There's an Alumni Meet and it's the time of the year where all students show their talent and skills.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very very affordable in comparison to other Masters courses. My first-year fee was 11k and same was for the second year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
Yes, the college provides Book Grants but I never heard of anyone receiving one. I guess there's scholarship for single girl child as well but I am not much sure about it either.
Campus Life
I don't think such activities do occur in any Masters program anywhere. If they do, none of such activity happened in my college.
Hostel Facilities
No, I reside in a flat which I am living in since my Graduation days. I cook my own food and live with 3 other guys.
Alumni/Alumna
Really really great. It's one the main attribute of our department. We organize Alumni meet every year and invite every single member to come and speak few words about what they've been up to and share their experience. A whole gala event is organized for their welcome. There's a group on LinkedIn and Facebook as well to connect with your alumni and get it touch.
Exam Structure
Totally chill. There is no hard and fast rule to attend all the lecture. But it's not even like that you'd get full marks without attending them either. Depends on you. If you're regular, you'd score well. It might be tiring a little at first coz you are new to 2hr lectures from your earlier Grad 50 mins lectures, but you become habitual and it feels all alright. Can't really say much about the students you don't come to study at all(totally different explanation you'd get from them).
Faculty
The perfect faculty you could ever find with few exceptions for sure. Most of the teachers are really really good. They would make you wonder if you really focused on your Graduation on the subject we are continuing in MSc. It becomes kinda embarrassing because they ask some simple questions about some stuff which should be your cup of tea because you are a Maths, Stats or CS graduate. This does really show how well experienced and qualified they are. I'd give 8.5/10 to the standard of teaching.
