What Students Say
Likes
- My experience at SRCC has been great till now, with me getting good exposure, meeting and making new friends and being part of and managing college events.
- I like the campus vibe despite the limited size. The greenery, the natural environment is also great.
Dislikes
- One thing I dislike about my college is that the students are over-competitive and the environment sometimes become toxic.
- Also, the attendance structure has been a little bit strict, which might limit the flexibility to students pursuing professional courses like me.
Course Curriculum Overview
SRCC provides only 2 UG courses: B.A. (H) Economics & B.Com (H). I cleared the cutoffs of both the courses but since I am pursuing CA and B.Com best aligns with CA course, I took up B.Com. The course curriculum, with the implementation of NEP, has become a bit more comprehensive, focussing more on the practical aspects of the subjects. The best thing about the faculty of my college is that the majority of professors are the authors of our study module too and the faculty is great, experienced, and student-friendly. The commencement of my batch was delayed due to delay in the final admission due to late CUET results and so were the exams. The first 3 semesters were shortened due to this. It is not difficult to pass the exams as such, the exams are largely based on the concepts taught in lectures, and by practising questions from 10-Year, the process becomes easier.
Internships Opportunities
The internship cycle is conducted by the Placement Cell of the college each year. Second year students become eligible for the internship opportunities. A number of companies of category A,B & C come for recruitment. The companies in my time included Deutsche Bank, Bank of America, JSW Group, HUL, SIG Ventures Capital and many more. Various roles are offered by different companies ranging from consulting to finance analyst. The stipend ranges between 40000 rupees to 140000 per month depending upon the conpany and work profile. Also, the interns also get opportunities of retention theough the Pre Placement Offer based on their performance on the work. The internships offered are on site as well as work from home. Some are hybrid as well generally spanning for 2 months.
Placement Experience
Students at SRCC become eligible for internships from 3rd semester and for final placements in the third year. All category A, B & C companies come for campus recruitment ranging from McKinsey & Co. to JSW Group. Companies like Deutsche Bank, HUL, Kearney, Golman Sachs, Deloitte, KPMG recruit the students. The latest average package for 2023 stood at 10 LPA and the highest was 35 LPA. A large number of students get placed, barring some who don't apply for placements and internships due to specific reasons or plans. Moreover, some are placed as CA Article assisted in the Big Four that come during placement cycle. Those who don't avail placement benefit generally appear for CAT and do an MBA and some give UPSC. The students can also seek the off campus jobs which give appriciable value to SRCC students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Different DU colleges charge different tuition fees with each course combination. In my college, it is approximately 30000 Rs. per year for B.Com (H). The reserved SC/ST students are charged some 200-300 less amount and for the disabled students, the fees is a nominal amount around 70 rupees per year. The foreign students of my batch are charged around 45000 rupees per year. Those staying in hostels have to pay the hostel fees as well which is over and above the tuition fees. Financially weak students are also offered concessions and scholarships which are regularly announced on the University and college portal. Being not in the category of those eligible for financial assistance, I do not avail these benefits. Apart from this, the college also conducts placement and internship cycle for 2nd and 3rd year students each year, through the placement cell, facilitating recruitment of students into good corporate organisations. Internship stipend range: 40k-140k p.m. Avg Package: 10 LPA.
Campus Life
The campus environment is eventful and very happening. There is a limited diversity in my college in terms of course due to only 2 courses but the social is a big positive as a number of events are held regularly by student run societies, enhancing student engagement. The infrastructure of my college is decent with air conditioned rooms, just that class size is a bit higher due to limited campus size of 15 acres and limited number of rooms against large no. of students. SRCC has the iconic Sports Complex and there is sufficient support for sports and extra-curricular activities. Annual fest Crossroads is held every year in the college generally near March month (has not been held last 2 times due to some reasons). The fest is a big buzz and carries a big budget. Then there is the Business Conclave as well. All these events are conducted by student run societies and unions like the Students' Union, the Economics Society, the COMSOC, D-Street & many more active societies.
Admission
Starting with the admission route, it has been made compulsory for students to take the CUET exam held by NTA to take up admission to any DU college, with effect from 2022. To apply for the examination, one has to simply go to the NTA CUET UG website when the application stage starts to get registered by filling up the necessary details and paying the requisite fee (which is a nominal amount; ranging upto 1500 rupees depending on the no. of slots). The application dates are generally 2-3 months before the exam. One also must keep in mind the eligibility criteria of the course he wants to get into, which one can find on the respective University website. For example, for pursuing B.Com (H) from DU, one should look into admission brochure of DU. I applied through unreserved category. Any person with necessary proof can appear in th exam through reserved category and avail the benefit of reservation given to reserved classes, as regards to cutoffs.
