Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I have always been fascinated by how electricity works and how it powers our daily lives. The curriculum was well-structured and covered all the essential topics that are needed to excel in this field. The faculty members were highly knowledgeable and skilled. The faculty-to-student ratio was well-balanced, which allowed for personalized attention to each student. The professors were highly qualified, and their teaching methods were engaging and interactive. They made sure that every student understood the concepts thoroughly and provided additional support whenever required. Term exams were conducted on time, and the difficulty level was appropriate. The professors provided adequate guidance and study materials to help students prepare well for the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Here are some of the companies that offer internships along with the roles offered and stipend: 1. Qualcomm - Software Development Intern - Stipend: INR 40,000 per month 2. Microsoft - Data Analyst Intern - Stipend: INR 35,000 per month 3. Amazon - UX Design Intern - Stipend: INR 30,000 per month Some key outcomes include; 1. Practical experience in developing software applications for mobile devices. 2. Knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning techniques for data analysis. 3. Expertise in designing user interfaces for online platforms.
Placement Experience
The placements at NIT Calicut are quite good. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards. Many top companies visit the campus every year, offering a wide range of job profiles to the students. Some of the top companies that visit the campus are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro. The number of offers made by these companies varies from year to year. The highest package offered at NIT Calicut is around Rs. 40-50 lakhs per annum and the average package is around Rs. 12-14 lakhs per annum. The packages offered by different companies depend on the profile they are offering and the skills of the students. Around 85-95% of the students get placed every year, which is quite impressive. After getting the degree, I can either opt for higher studies or start my career with the job offers I get.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure at NIT Calicut varies for different programs and different categories of students (SC /ST /OBC /EWS /GEN) and also according to their family annual income(< 1 lacs; btw 1 -5 lacs; and > 5 lacs). In terms of scholarships and financial assistance, there are several options available for deserving students. Some of the popular scholarships at NIT Calicut include the National Scholarship for Higher Education, the MHRD Scholarship, the Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, the FFE Scholarship, and the Reliance Foundation Scholarship, etc.
Campus Life
Life at the Campus of NIT Calicut is quite lively and exciting. The social life here is great, as students from all over India come together to study and live. The campus has many social groups and clubs that organize various events and activities throughout the year. There are also websites run by the students that provide information about upcoming events, job opportunities, and other important updates. The annual fest of NIT Calicut is called 'Ragam' and is usually held in February or March. It is a cultural festival that attracts participants from all over the country. The tech fest is called 'Tathva' and is usually held in September or October. It is a platform for students to showcase their technical skills and innovations. The library at NIT Calicut has a vast collection of books, journals, and other reference materials. Students have access to online databases and e-books as well. The amenities in the classrooms are top-notch, with modern equipment
Admission
The admission process was pretty straightforward and easy to navigate. I did have to take an entrance exam(JEE). The application process itself was also quite simple and well-organized. As for the cut-off, I believe it varies depending on the program you are applying to. Overall, I had a positive experience with the admission process at NIT Calicut.
