What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is very beautiful and big, great to explore
- There are a lot of amenities near the campus
- There are a lot of societies to join to pursue your interests
Dislikes
- The student quantity is alarmingly high, there are students in really high quantity and you will have to compete hard for good placements
- The hostel food is not the greatest, and some amenities like the wifi is unreliable and occasionally stops working.
- Due to being in Odisha, communication can be a problem with some teachers or locals.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the CSE course because it was the course I had most interest in, I genuinely do not find any interest in mechanics, civil and especially not chemistry so CS was the best choice at hand, I also wanted to go into AI the faculty:student ratio is very poor, there are 4k+ students but not enough faculty. Every faculty is very qualified in what they do. I have not had term exams yet.
Internships Opportunities
Currently I have no idea on the internships offered due to being in first year, your internship opportunities are present in second year onwards. As per projects, it's just general B.Tech projects in first year and then writing code in second year onwards.
Placement Experience
students become eligible for campus placement from 4th year onwards several MNCs have visited the campus although it's very select few who get placement Highest placement was around 52 lpa last year if I recall correctly, but do keep in mind that's just one or two students, most placements aren't good and the college will inflate the average placement package. but one good thing is that you have a guaranteed placement, albeit you don't know whether the placement is good or not. I personally plan on pursuing a master's degree after btech.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are high due to KIIT being a private college, there is an additional 75k rupees fees for misc. expenses such as a laptop (which isn't good) However you can get a scholarship by getting a high enough ranking in KIITEE, select few students also get 10k per month.
Campus Life
The Tech fest hasn't been announced yet, I am still just a first year student. The library is very extensive, although first year students have limited access Classrooms are large in size but due to the way they are designed like school classrooms and not seminar halls, visibility of the screen in which the teacher writes is limited. There are a lot of sports and extra curricular activities available, along with societies which let you go further into your interests
Hostel Facilities
For the premium hostels, you are provided with regular room cleaning two beds per room personal toilet desk wardrobe bedsheets pillow bucket blanket it's pretty standard but I'd reccomend bringing your own bedsheets and blanket meal quality is fine, they put potato in every meal where it can work and it's generally mass produced food, it's better than hostels of other colleges but it's not that good. few people have gotten sick lately in the hostels the registration process is complicated and time consuming due to the sheer quantity of students in the hostel
Admission
The courses are generally easy to get into, there are a lot of seats in the CSE branch so it's not that hard to get in. The course requires high enough ranking in KIITEE (KIIT Entrance Exams) The Application form can be found in the KIIT website with fees for the exam I didn't avail reservation so I don't know it's benefits No improvisation needed
