Course Curriculum Overview

Course and faculty members are helpful and clear all doubts if needed. At the same time they are also very strict and there is a 0 tolerance policy against cheating, although it still happens in exams. Assignment sums are discussed and solved during tutorials taken by tutors, usually a PHD or MTech student.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are plenty. There are companies and vene other colleges like IITs bring out their internship programmes and approaching the students. Some third years have even gone abroad for some months and done internship in their field of choice.

Placement Experience

Campus placements are generally done by the Studen Placment Office (SPO). Although a student can also apply through an off-campus placement. Placement is more or less irrelevant of branch because most people opt for non core jobs and circuital jobs. It is all dependent in ones skills and consistency.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee policy is good. Fees are manageable and is around 1.5 lak per annum. Some people avail scholarships due to category while others need to pay the full fees. The hostel fee is quite high but then again is much lower than private colleges.

Campus Life

Life at campus is one of the best things to consider while joining here, from fests, activities, club events, all-nighters to pull off an event, there is so much to explore on campus. There are clubs and societies for each topic of interest.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facility is decent. After all it is just a place to reside and rest. Although the fun we get from wingies and friends surely outweighs everything. Mess food over here is better than most colleges and it suffices our needs.

Hostel Fee: INR 160000 per year

Admission

Eligibility is Jee advanced was the qualification test. To be eligible in courses you need to either be in a particular branch which is offering the course or take it as an optional elective. The course templates are flexible and can be changed to suit your needs under the guidance of professors.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good. Companies that hire for Electrical core: Nvidia, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Bajaj etc. Software/Quant compaines open to Electrical: Squarepoint Capital, NK Securities, Google, Microsoft etc. The % of students getting placed are 85%. Average package is 29.33 lpa. I have got an internship in Nvidia Software.

HBTU review from a Ist year student.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is very good in this college. In my own CSE branch there is good placement package you can get. But in this year due to recession the placements is less in IT section but still placement is going on and top package has crossed 35LPA. During previous years top package was around 44LPA and average was 10-12 LPA . Also in other branches like Chemical engineering and mechanical engineering, the placement is at its best of 100% always.

I choose this college becouse of its flexible acdemic structure and its great Alum connections. Also this is the best college i am getting according to my rank and my interest in mathematics. I have Applied for IIT delhi in electronics. IIT Delhi is also a great college but when it comes to academic focus IIT delhi lacks there. Also there faculty administratation is so strict. if a student wants to start something or he/she has a new iniative for the college , he/she will face hard time. So I couldn't make it to IIT Roper CSE branch because my jee adance rank is not that great for the Roper' Computer science. So the Admission process here at IITK is not difficult. You just the originaly document which you have submitted in your josa counselling portal and you need to verify it once here usually a couple opf hours work. The cut-off for IITK varies-from branch to branch. For example the CSE of IITk open from Jee advanced general rank of 115 to 250....Read More

I chose IIT Kanpur over othe rcooleges because of its academic reputation, research opportunities and strong alumini network. I was also able to get seats in other IITs but I preferred IIT Kanpur due to its legacy . I didn't face rejections, but did not opt for some colleges even after qualifying due to lower research output, weaker placement stats.
