Remarks

JSS is a pretty great college to do your undergrad from. Be it academics, extra curricular activities, gentry, infrastructure,or faculty,it stands apart from the rest of the private colleges of UPTU. However, the college must improve its hostel facility.

Entrance Preview

Admitted through UPSEE entrance examination, I was allotted Electrical engineering department. There were absolutely no qualms whatsoever in the admission process. The support staff was overwhelming. There wasn't any interview process as such, instead it was a cake walk with a simple admission procedure.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The electrical engineering department that I was admitted in did boast of an experienced faculty and lab infrastructure. Most of the professors were well masters of their trade and there were plenty of labs for each sub trade with Control Systems, Electrical Machines, Network and Measurements,Power Electronics and Drives, Simulation and Numerical Technique labs to name a few. It also had an installed power substation by Schneider Electric with plenty of equipment for R&D. The environment was that of mutual learning and enhancement of ideas with various projects and mini projects encouraged by the faculty members and taken up by the students. The IEEE journals were free to be availed by anyone via department and college subscription. Several fests and inter college events and competitions pertaining to Robotics,TRAM design, Embedded and Control Systems were encouraged. All in all, one would experience a great time in the EE department in JSS,Noida.

Internships Opportunities

Several companies visited the campus to hire students for internship with a handsome stipend. For example, MarkIT hired some students as interns with a stipend of around 20,000 per month. Students from streams other than CS/IT had to go for internships and industrial training on their own.

Placement Experience

3.5

The training and placement cell did put in a lot of efforts last year to get the maximum number of students placed. Companies like Wipro (hired 98 students) and Tech Mahindra were among the mass recruiters with an average package of around 3.4 lakh/annum. Some IT based companies like iON Digital, Kronos recruited around 10 students combined, with packages of 12 lakhs and 9 lakhs respectively. Indian Navy, JSS's STEP, HCL, Torrent Power (for Electrical),Trianz,Maxim(for Mechanical) were among the other recruiters.

College Events

4.5

Zealicon is the annual technical and the cultural fest hosted by JSS. It is managed by Student Councils of each department viz, Oorja(Electrical), Nibble(CS), PSpice (Instrumentation),ACE(Civil),etc. Various events like tech quizzes, business quizzes, HuntIT, CodeWars, RoboWars, TRAM, Wirology, LAN Gaming, Dance competitions,War of Bands,Skits, Singing,DJ Nights, etc were organized. In addition to this an annual sports event named Mythri is also held in the month of October, annually.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for a year was around 1 lakh rupees. Although, there was financial assistance by the UP government for the less privileged students by means of scholarships, every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship was provided by UP government to the less privileged students with parental income less than 2 lakh per annum. Education loans were also applied for by many students who were in need of some financial assistance.

Campus Life

4

The JSS football team has made a name for itself by winning various inter college competitions including the IITs. Other activities include music and arts with a varied band culture and club culture.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility was limited to the first few admitted students. Others, including me,had to resort to PGs outside the college campus. Although, I've heard from many of colleagues who did stay in the college hostel that the infrastructure and food was great there.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an online portal for an alumni network. Each year, the Alumni Meet is held on the 7th of October.

Exam Structure

Even though the first two years may get a tad too hectic for the students with frequent labs, classes and tests, the trend regresses in the 3rd and the 4th year where in you get plenty of time to do other activities as well,be it co-curricular, competitions or fests.

Faculty

4

The faculty was quite impressive as far as my experience is concerned. They were all well qualified with many of them with PhDs and years of experience in industry as well as academics. They were always there for us as or what the need be. The teaching standards would gradually be set a level up as you keep on progressing towards the final year(where in the main emphasis is laid upon encouraging the students to get their research papers published or their projects patented).

Course Curriculum Overview:

Jims is a ipu college, so yeah curriculum depends entirely on ipu University. First year is similar for all btech courses. Or is easy to earn marks in lab and soft skill subjects but maths or physics is hard. Your 12th basics should be very good, else these two subjects will affect your overall SGPA badly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course structure is good of btech but there there is only thing I don't like is that in btech course the subjects in first year are not related to career of students because there is physics, chemistry other irrelevant subjects present in first year but in second year the course become interesting and relevant. Curriculum is good and prepare well for real world applications. The exams comes frequently every month there is a class test but class tests are moderate on the basis of there difficulty level.

The students are eligible for placements in the final year. The college offers basic placement training and assistance. Some local and local-level comanies even visit for campus recruitment with average offers. Average package: 2-4 LPA, highest around 9-10 LPA 60-90 percent students get placed. My plan is to develop my skills and attain a good job or go for higher studies after degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Honestly speaking I don't like the curriculum of my college. Everything is same which people studied 20 years ago . Only few things has been changed and I don't understand why we need to study about things which don't have any existence in reality. They should focus on current tech and provide more learning opportunities in AI.

course curriculum is little bit out-dated, and improvements are needed in terms of syllabus. timing of exams are ok ok. so many assignments are given which is really hectic because their are deadlines to upload those assignments in google classroom. and one thing i hate about college is 75% attendence is must. due to this we do not get much time for our personal development.
