Overwhelming

I would say that the college is great and will help you make whatever career you want but there are some drawbacks too. Like people get a lot of backlogs , college is too expensive , overcrowded , etc.

I took UPSEAT for UPES and scored around 4000 AIR. I opted for this particular college because i wanted to do Bt ech in computer science with specialization in Graphics and Gaming and i am currently pursuing that course.

Course curriculum is very basic and easy in 1st year , we have all types of subjects in 1st year like chemistry, Maths , Physics along with basic computer science syllabus , but as the we come into 3rd year , the course becomes very specific and difficult at the same time. Like since we are in Computer Science with Graphics and Gaming, we have subjects like automata, computer graphics , advanced computer graphics , webGL, openGl, etc.

From what i have heard , the placement and job opportunities are ample but average (around 3-4 lakhs per annum ) for most of the students. There are students who get 24- 30 lakhs per annum too. But then that all depends on the students talent. A lot of companies like Dell, amazon , adobe , flipkart , hp, etc come every year for computer science students.

I personally am not a very event oriented student but there are many student chapters and theirs own fests. we have freshers, URJAA is our college fest. Then there are many event by the students chapters like acm, spe, aerospace club etc. ACM is computer science oriented student chapter and covers many events like hackathon, Multiplayer gaming , quiz and many more.

Fee structure is one of the drawbacks of the college. Starting for 1.15 Lakh per semester and that too excluding the hostel fee is quite expensive. I mean every thing is right , college has a good reputation and all but b tech for about 18 Lakh in 4 years is a huge amount.

Students who score more than 90% in 12th boards are given some scholarship . I have no more clue about it.

Campus life is great for the first 2 years. You can take part in any even, any competition and can win huge amount of money. There are events going all the time in college campus. labs are great and you can come for your experience and research when the labs are free.

Campus Hostel is based on Fist come first server basis. And they are only for 1st and 2nd year students. Apart from that there are lots of hostels and PG's around the campus. many are way better than the campus hostels but it all depends on the budget.

I have some seniors who have been to Russia as student exchange program and they are very inspiring and helpful .

Exams are two times a semester . One are Mid Semester and other are End semesters . Mid semesters covering half of the syllabus and end semester covering all the syllabus. Yes it becomes hectic during exam times because we are also given many assignments and projects for submission.

Admission procedure was very straight forward. One thing about UPES is that there is no reservation of any type and this came as a good news to us. The procedure is simple : You give UPESEAT , if you get selected you will be called for counselling, for me it was in Delhi. There they ask you what you want from the Courses provided, if the seat is available you are most welcome.

Faculty is a great power of our college. Most of them are from some prestigious colleges themselves. Almost all are doing some research in their field of interest. All faculty are always open for any type of doubt , whether it is from studies or personal life and try their best to solve the issue.
