Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose Architecture because of the way science mixes with art. I had a great interest in both so I went with it. Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics, JMI is one of the best in India it falls in the top 5 in India. The student ratio is roughly around 40-60 for boys and girls respectively. Teachers are highly qualified. Important subjects mostly have 2-3 teachers which include a Main teacher, a sub-teacher and an intern. Many teachers have qualified from within the same institution. We don't have a semester here only in Architecture. Ours are divided into year wise. We don't have any middle-term examinations except subjects that are only for the midterms. We regularly have Sessionals, and jury and the biggest difficulty we face is basically loads of assignments and projects. We get 2-3 hours of sleep out of 24 hours, so that is what fears us.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Fee structure is perfect at Jamia when it comes to Architecture. So each year is divided into two classes Day and SFS. The only difference between these two sections is basically the fee structure. The fees for the Day batch are around 15k per year and for the SFS batch is around 85k per year. Architecture is a field of struggle the biggest struggle we face after graduation is basically financial problems. We get really low-paid internshipss ranging from 5-15k per month. After Graduation, we are considered to be paid very low and after years of hard work, we become senior architects.

Campus Life

4

Annually we celebrate Foundation Day of Jamia to remember the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia. Each department can conduct its own fest. Department of Architecture conducts Fenestration every year around November or December. In this event, students decide to decorate the walls, corridors, doors etc with attractive paintings and drawings. Jamia Alos Conducts inter Faculty tournaments every year for different sports. Social Groups are also present in the Jamis but I haven't joined any so I don't have any idea about it.

Admission

Bachelor of Architecture at Jamia is one of Best in India but getting admission into it is also hard. I cracked Jee paper 2 with 96 percentile but it was still not enough to get into Jamia. Luckily i had 5% reserved quota for internal students. The paperworks were quite easy. All Documents like Tc, marksheets of 10th and 12th etc was already in hand and all affidavits required could be made at jamia maktaba itself. Fee Payment was also easy. Jamia has two options for the fee payment - Online or Offline. Offline is a headache because long line and long waiting, but i payed my fee onlin so it was easy for me.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In the forst year the faculty will make you do completely dumb and irrelevant stuff which is mostly not related to the real life. You will surely feel like and think in a way that why you are doing all this, but slowly the curriculum will get difficult and would have real world applications. In the starting you should improve your drafting and most importantly you should procastinate your work and should learn the importance of time management.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it is very practical, you don't have to be in class, you can go out, explore and learn. I love to draw and design. The faculty-student ratio is 1:40 Teachers are good and helpful .they all are architects and everyone has a totally different view of your design. There are 2 semesters, so 4 unit tests and 2 yearly exams, the theory exams are fine but the practical ones where you have to present your work in front of a juror are tough. it is not necessary if they'll like your design or not .so they can give you fewer marks.

Remarks:

Overall, there are lots of negative remarks on SPA DELHI. They do not even provide basic facilities for the fees they take. Even what little facilities that exists are very poorly maintained. The lifts does not work more often than not, the coolers for drinking water are outdated and filters unchanged, fire extinguishers outdated, poor parking facilities, no grounds for sports related activities, no air conditioners in the classroom for the unbearable Delhi heat, very poor provision of funds, non-existent placement cells, and the lists goes on.
