Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The faculty here is genuinely good, as in they are actually pretty considerate. We had only 3 months for sem 1 But even during that little time, teachers actually handled it quite well I'd say. We had Python in sem 1 and we studied it from scratch since many had come from different streams by the end of sem 1 almost all of us were on the same level when it came to Python. If it looks like I'm avoiding talking about any other subject we had, then yes I am. There's nothing particularly bad about the course just that the aec subjects are pretty useless evs (sem 1) and Hindi (studying it is not much of use if 80% of the class don't even remember how to write in it anymore) hope they'll keep it easy. first sem exams were quite easy to pass. anyone who just started studying a week ago would be able to pass the exam of course not with a perfect score but with a decent one.

Placement Experience

3

From what I've seen, the placement cell is not exactly inactive. During the last 3 months, it actually organized 3 events, some resume-building workshops, and an internship training programme. Last year the packages offered in the Computer Science course weren't that high but they were near average. Some of the top recruiting companies for the college's course include Amazon (highly unlikely though), Wipro, Chegg and ICICI prudential life insurance. this year during the internship and placement fair, the only "big" company I saw was axis bank and I would say a fair number of third-year students got placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

For this course particularly, the fee is 68k which is higher than many better colleges. It would've been almost fine if that money was actually used somewhere but as things stand right now, all that money might as well have been burnt along with the college amphitheatre. The computers in our labs aren't even able to use basic programming software, so our professors had to improvise and ask us to work on online compilers. Almost all computers take 6-7 minutes just to show the win7 loading screen at first we thought it was funny but then we remembered we're paying around INR 70k/annum for this (the highest fee in DU). Our college surely beats other colleges when it comes to fees it's like twice the average fee for this course but the equipment we're using is still below avg.

Campus Life

3

Both the annual fest, Splendour, and the tech fest, automata were quite decent. both were conducted at a 2-month gap. Splendour was conducted in February and automata was organised after the first sem exams and the internship fair. speaking of internships, the internship and placement cell is run by the students and it is one the busiest society in our college after enactus. the sports ground was just re-levelled a month ago but for some reason, students weren't allowed to conduct practice sessions for football. our sports ground and sports room both are shared between RLA and aryabhatta college which is fine, considering that it doesn't feel cramped but the rules here are beyond dumb and unreasonable. we aren't allowed to use gym equipment after 10 AM and the college doesn't open until 8:30. what's the point of keeping gym equipment in the college if no one would be able to use it unless they skip classes?

Admission

The eligibility for admission was quite simple this year, students had to score passing marks in their class XII exams, and how much they scored would be almost irrelevant. then they had to register for the CUET examination and select the desired university and the subjects in which they would give the exams. for my course (B.Sc hons Computer science), the required subject combination was 3 Domain subjects and 1 language. I think the criteria were almost fair however there were still some things that almost felt unfair. Everyone (including me) from PCM or PCMB backgrounds felt cheated because solving MCQs in our subjects was way more challenging than it was for Arts bg students. Rest, I won't complain regarding the reservation system, as there's no point in fretting over it.

The students become eligible for placements after second year or even third year. Companies like Google, Deloitte, KPMG, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, McKinsey, etc visited our college for placements and recieved over 200 placement offers in the latest year 2025. Highest package of Hindu College is 36.5 LPA and the average package is 11.4 LPA. Hindu College has a high placement rate of 95% of eligible students securing a placement here. My plan is to prepare for UPSC or SSC-CGL after my degree.
