Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose this course at CEC because computers are my passion . I want to pursue this as my career . The faculty : student ratio is about 1:30.There are class counselors which help the student in every case . The faculty are having quite good impressive knowledge about their domains . They are well qualified upto postgraduate or doctorate level and teach the students in a very good approach and help them in clearing their doubts. The term exams timely as per the schedule and first mid semester was before time mentioned. It was quite difficult to pass them.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are many internships offered to students and students take full profit of this. Due to lack of knowledge about this domain in our college, I can't further comment on this topic as I am having not that much knowledge.

Placement Experience

4

From the 5th semester students become eligible for the campus placements. The companies that visit the campus for placements are Amazon , Google, Microsoft, Wipro etc.The no. Of offers made during the placement season was around 400. The highest package offered was 45.5 lakhs and average package is around 7 lakhs . Around 60-70% students get placement the college. My plans is get into Amazon as SDE 1 and be there in the field for my whole life.

Fees and Financial Aid

Being affiliated to government university , the fee is hiked after some years and the total cost of study was then 3.8 lakh for session 2022-26 and 5.5lakh for the new session 2023-27.There are scholarships running in the college or any financial assistance on campus.

Campus Life

4.5

There is one annual fest happening all year named parivartan which lasts for 2 days and concerts happens at night on both days with punjabi singers coming on the concert. They are conducted in the month of November. There are monthly events going in the auditorium on any festival. Books and journals are available in the library but you need to be on time to get them as they get issued on time. There are no special amenities in the classroom just simple only desks and whiteboard. There is no encouragement to sports but many extra curricular activities are going on the campus every other days and students actively participate in these activities. There are around eight clubs in the college which include both social and events related clubs in the college.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are three boys hostels in the college and one girl hostel in the college. The facilities provided in the room are 4 beds , 4 chairs, 4 admiralhs, 2fans, 1 cooler. The meal quality is very poor . It tastes just like hell . I don't like it at all. But menu looks tempting . The registration process is quite simple for hostels and quite affordable . Just pay the fees and then they allot you the room as per your requirement and availability. But it will be quite affordable If you rent a PG or a flat.

Admission

The admission process is quite simple. The student should have 75% marks in 12th boards or equivalent. The students can apply through online method or can come to college to take admission . Also students can apply through PTU counselling. The application fees is ?11000.The EWS students coming through PTU counseling avail a fee waiver. I don't seek any improvement in the admission process. It is quite simple and easy to do.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
