- Liberty offered is definitely the thing I like, library is accessible 23*7, no hostel curfews also you can go to to boys hostel to visit
- Celebration of any festival takes place on large scale and everybody is welcomed..the ambience is very cosmopolitan.
- The fees is quite low , the university is very affordable and friendly.
Dislikes
- I am not satisfied with the meals offered in mess.
- The fast food in the campus is quite expensive
- The examination system is quite hectic and nerve breaking, you get to give atleast 32 exams in one semester.
Course Curriculum Overview
Language and literature have always intrigued me and Jawaharlal Nehru University seemed an appropriate place to learn languages as it is credited with NA++ also u get to learn other languages other than from your main course, The teaching method is intense, and the courses are deep and requires thorough knowledge of the language we are learning, also number of exams taken in any semester is quite high which demands rigorous practice and command of the language. There are about 6 main professors assigned to a strength of 40 students in each semester along with 6 subjects. Terms exams are held quite regularly and the last two semesters have been particularly problematic because of courses like translation and literature.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are minimal, it is nothing compared to school fees and other expenses, the fee for one semester is around 160 rupees also people from certain categories are offered financial assistance of around 2000 rupees every month which is quite helpful to pay mess bills and other expenses.
Campus Life
I haven't experienced any kind of tech fest in the university, only certain cultural fests are held and they are also not on a big scale, no specific time is there it is held according to students' will. Books and journals are available in bounty in the library, and easy to access the plus point is that Library is open 24 hours offering you the right to study anytime. Classrooms, however, are not well equipped, I am dissatisfied with the facilities available, the only thing you can do in the classroom is sit and see a blackboard. Playground and stadium is open to all, however there is no big-time participation in sports and activities are held as such, however activities like plantation drive, photography club, mountaineering club are quite active.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are certainly upto mark if we avoid some hostels where infrastructure is in debris actually, I live in hostel which was recently made so I am quite satisfied, in rooms you get two wardrobe, two study table and two separate beds, three meals are given and they are good with quantity but however quality is compromised.
Admission
The eligibility for the course was 12 passes from any stream, application form could be easily found on University's official site, which comes around Feb - March every year, the fee for the OBC category was around 700 and the deadline was up to one month. I belong to the OBC category however I scored enough marks to get selected from the general category. I didn't find anything particularly problematic with the admission process.
