Course Curriculum Overview
The course is a very good amalgamation of Mathematics and Computer Science, two fields which have a huge scope ahead. The student faculty ratio at IIT Delhi is 1:10. All faculty members are highly qualified. They have PHDs from top universities across the world, and have written numerous research papers which have received recognition worldwide. There is one major exam and two minor exams along with some quizzes/assignments (this varies from course to course). Passing in the exams isn't really a difficult thing but getting a good grade in a particular subject is difficult as the grading is relative, and the students that you are competing with are some of the sharpest minds of the country.
Internships Opportunities
Internships in sectors of Core, IT, Finance, Data Analysis and Consulting are offered. The average stipend is 1.5 Lakh per month. Project opportunities such as SURA IIT Delhi and inter disciplinary projects are also offered.
Placement Experience
BTech students in 7th semester and Dual degree students in 9th semester can appear for the placements, which happens on the campus itself through the Office of Career Services. Big companies such as Google, Microsoft, Uber, Jane Street, Optiver, etc. come for placements at IIT Delhi offering huge packages. 95% of the students appearing in placements get placed. I plan to pursue entrepreneurship after my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The annual tution fees (without any external scholarship) is 238000 Rs. Various scholarships are granted based on your CGPA/JEE Advanced AIR/ Family Income. I am currently in the second year so haven't appeared for the placement/internship process yet.
Campus Life
Annual tech fest - Tryst (1st week of March) Annual cultural fest - Rendezvous (2nd week of March) There is a Library with 24x7 access and fully air conditioned spacious classrooms. There is a wide variety of sports and extra curricular activities to try out. NSS IIT Delhi, Share IIT Delhi, etc. are some of the clubs run by IIT DELHI.
Hostel Facilities
Cupboard, table, chair, shelf and are provided along with a fan in the room. Mess food is good, price is 225 Rs per day. All UG students are allotted a hostel seat. No seperate registration is required. Fee payment for hostel seat is to be done in the beginning of the academic year.
Admission
The cutoff for my course was AIR 376 in CRL in JEE Advanced. The application process is through JoSSA councelling process. You first fill the form for JEE Main, clear the JEE Main cutoff and then appear for JEE Advanced. Then you can apply for the JoSSA councelling process based on either your JEE Advanced rank for admission in IITs. The admission process overall is very good, no scope for improvement.
