Course Curriculum Overview
The course is a holistic amalgamation of different subjects like marketing, finance, economics, statistics, strategy, and operations. The faculty is very good, for certain subjects and for certain subjects we could do better. The faculty is highly qualified and the case-based teaching method is something very appreciated and easy to learn from.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is given at the start of the course for the 2 years of college. There is an additional cost to study in terms of transportation, and some accommodation related like Gym and swimming pool, etc. Some scholarships from banks and the government are available for the same. Exceptional candidates also get medals and stipends from the Director.
Campus Life
Campus life is happening day in and day out. There is always some event or the other being conducted by the various clubs and committees, and some festival to celebrate each month. Since there is a lot of diversity on campus, it's a good mix. Our classrooms are very well-equipped with new tech, moving boards, projectors, and soundproof rooms. There's provision for sports and a gym. We have a tennis court, billiards room, table tennis court, basketball court, and a swimming pool. Grounds for cricket, football, and volleyball are undergoing maintenance.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are good, but the messy food could be better. The different clubs responsible for the hostel infrastructure and mess food are really responsible and work towards improving it, but the mess food could be better in most aspects. Some of the food like the South Indian food prepared is good. But some food is not up to the mark.
Admission
To be eligible for admission, one must have at least 60% in their 10, 12, and under-graduation. In addition to that, there is an entrance exam called the Common Entrance Test (CAT), which you would have to sit for and qualify for. The details of CAT are released on their official CAT website iimcat.ac.in. The application fee was Rs. 2000 when I applied. Generally comes in the month of September-October. The exam is on the last Sunday of November. Through the form, one can apply to as many colleges and courses under the IIMs as one wants. Post results, the minimum percentile to be eligible for the CAP colleges was 90 last time for General Candidates. There was no GD for my batch, but a Personal Interview is conducted before releasing the shortlists. There is a computation of composite scores for each of the colleges separately, based on which shortlists are released, and then one is given a week to pay the seat confirmation fee, to secure their admission to college.
Interview Experience
There was an interview for admission. Since I was a fresher, my interview was based on what I had previously studied, GK, and standard interview questions like tell me something about yourself. Since our interviews were online, we were emailed a time and date when we had to be available for the interview, and a panel of usually 2, sometimes 3 people would interview us based on our educational background, previous work experience, etc. Writing down the answers to some of the key questions asked and practicing what you would like to highlight to the panelists with friends and family helps. Mock PIs are absolutely essential before the actual interview.
