Remarks

A small batch of 120. Decent reputation, especially in the South. 36 years young and has withstood the test of time. The college didn't advertise a lot unlike others and is very authentic. At my CAT score, this college seemed to be the best, given that I had already done my engineering down South.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose to major in Finance, mainly due to 2 reasons: a) Faculty b) Future. In the first year, I had one of the best teachers in Dr Sriraman who was followed by Dr Srikanth. In the 2nd year, we had a gem of a teacher in Mr Bangaruswamy. Rest of the faculty in finance was so so (but I am going to discount it a bit, due to the pandemic). The teacher to student ratio is pretty healthy especially in finance as limited students go for it.

Internships Opportunities

4

BIM has maintained a 100% record when it comes to internships. Don't be surprised if the internships are without stipend but the projects could end up being pretty good. We have to do an Area of Interest Project as well, which I feel is a good opportunity for a student to explore which domain would one want to major in.

Placement Experience

4

Campus placements are decent, especially when one talks about its authenticity and compares it to a lot of colleges in the country. We are associated with some good names like EY, Asian Paints, SBI, Vedanta, etc. The mean and median hover around 8.5 - 9.5 LPA mark. Last Highest: 15 LPA and Lowest: 5.5 - 6lpa. Roles offered may not be the best, but they are decent too.

Fees and Financial Aid

Cost to study according to the kind of infrastructure is not worth it. The college needs to seriously improve its infrastructure to keep in pace with other top B Schools as BIM, Trichy is regarded as one of the top B-Schools. We don't get scholarships here. But yes, since it is BIM, one can avail the SBI Scholar Loan (0 collateral). The placements are decent. As in the median and average salary hovers around 8.5 - 9.5 LPA mark. We have corporate relations with some good companies, we are well respected and it's overall decent. For internships, we have had 100% placement, in executives almost 100% (Placements work both ways, student effort is primary). For internships, a lot of the projects would be without stipend, but the project could turn out to be good.

Campus Life

2.5

Like any other MBA, BIM also hosts a string of events all year round both Intra and Inter College. The Intra College events are really fun to take part in. In fact, BIM has now started hosting a full-throttle Management Fest, called Crescita. It also conducts Atheneum. And not to forget the Sports and Cultural events are really fun. The Library is decent but could do with some proper revamp. Classrooms, I feel need improvement. They are structured in a manner where its almost impossible to implement a case pedagogy, which is followed by IIMs and such institutes and its unfortunate because both the faculties and the students are capable. All the clubs are student-run, But when you go into the niti gritties of it, then there is heavy faculty and management involvement. BIM is yet to get its own Audi and labs like Finance Lab with terminals, Data Sc. labs, etc. Hope this happens soon. A lot of students are from South so language and culture is a barrier. Peer politics is prevalent.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels are a 2 bedroom govt flat. The rooms are okayish. The bathrooms are small and dingy. So is the paint in the rooms. They look like proper govt flats from the 90s. Facilities are basic, but then it is a small chunk in the fees, so it's difficult to complain about it. Messcom has done a great job, as I found the food pretty decent. Though, if you are not from South and a vegetarian then you will face problems adapting.

Interview Experience

3.5

Preparation for this round depends on the individual. One could maybe get affiliated to coaching institutes like TIME, etc. The process was pretty straight forward: GD followed by PI. I got an abstract GD topic, "Here and Now". My PI lasted 20 minutes or so and the process took place in IIFT, Delhi. It was pretty smooth, to be honest, not much hassle. Could communication be a problem, Most probably not.
