ISMits Review

Petroleum engineering is a very good and not very tough course and nowadays the requirements of a petroleum engineer are very high. In IIT(ISM) Dhanbad many petroleum engineering core companies come and hire on campus every year. Here the faculty-student ratio is 18:1. Almost every faculty is IITians and graduate from abroad and their teaching skills. Every semester there is mid-semester and end-semester exam and the level of exams is moderate like if a student study daily for 2-3 then it is very easy to get 80-85% marks.

Many internship opportunities are there at the start of 3rd year. Companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Flipkart, etc come for hiring the intern. The stipend is around 1 Lakh per month. Project in Web Development, App Development, and Machine learning is required to get internship opportunities in good companies.

After 6th semester the placement process is started and students start filling out the form for different companies. And almost every student is placed at last of the 8th semester. Many students get preplacement offers(PPOs). Walmart offers around 25 offers. As in the 2022 batch highest domestic package is INR 50 LPA and the international package is INR 103 LPA whereas the average package is INR 17.30 LPA. Around 70-80% batch is placed. My plan after getting the degree is to do the job and study for the UPSC entrance exam.

The fee structure is like for general categories tuition fees are 100000 and other fees are 19000-26470. The fee structure varies on the categories also. Many scholarships are available every year like MCM, Sandvik, ISMAANA, etc.

Campus life at IIT(ISM) is awesome. The environment of the college is very good and greenery. Many annual fests like Srijan, Basant, Parakram, Pratibimb, and tech fest Concetto. The classroom is also very good and many classrooms are Air conditioners. Almost every sport is there and a separate playing ground for different sports is available. Every year General sports are organized. Clubs like RoboISM, Artfreks, Live talk ISM, Abhay dramatic club, etc.

The room of the hostel is neat and clean. Everyday cleaners come for cleaning the washroom and floors. The mess menu is quite good. The hostel is provided by the college we have to only choose the rooms of the hostel of our own choice. Many rented room Or PG is available nearby like Sourav Boys' Hostel.

Students must pass the class 12th board exam. The application form is available at the site of JEE Advanced and the application fees are based on the categories like for general and OBC(males & transgender) are? 2800 while for females and reserved categories are? 1400. Admission process is fine.
