What Students Say
Likes
- Student intake: it is very low so there's no rush or competition in placement drive
- Placements: although it is a tier 3 college still placement in core branch is impressive.
- Results: Results on competitive exams wre quite impressive like many top rankers in GATE and CAT are from this college
Dislikes
- Campus area: The whole on paper area is 68 acres but half of it comes under residential so not allowed for students.
- Curriculum: They are still teaching outdated syllabus.
- Management: Seems to be very lazy and dependent.
Course Curriculum Overview
Syllabus is relevant still outdated, everything is based on theory with less practice sessions. The one with good mugging up quality and excell in exams. Teaching method should be interactive, many faculty are following it still some are lacking. Exams are conducted in two parts , one mid sem and one end sem in a duration of 6 months per semester.
Internships Opportunities
College don't provide much intership, but few companies visit college to give internship to students on merit or selection basis like Marti Suzuki, Ayena innovation etc. But one can contact with proffesor to get internship role as they have stronf network. Likewise I got an project based internship opportunity at IIT Guwahati by a proffesor of our college.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible after 6th semester for placement drive. Companies visited are Vedanta, JSW, Mahinda, L&T, Ashok Leyland etc and 95% of students are placed till and still few companies are yet to come. Heighest package offered was by Vedanta of 13.95LPA while lowest was from an ADC Company of 3LPA which makes the median package around 8LPA for metallurgy branch and 7LPA for Mechanical. Every year around 98% of students get placed ( Rest 2% either opt out or any seruius indisciplinary issue ) Planning to get a job first then along with preparation of GATE for PSU.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for the B. Tech course, which is a 4-year degree program with two semesters per year, includes a tuition fee of Rs. 17,000, a computer fee of Rs. 1,000, an internet access fee of Rs. 300, a library fee of Rs. 1,000, an examination fee of Rs. 500, a registration / enrollment fee of Rs. 200, a Gymkhana fee of Rs. 300, a medical fee of Rs. 500, establishment charges of Rs. 7,500, and seat rent of Rs. 1,800 per semester. The total semester fee amounts to Rs. 30,100, and the annual fee for two semesters is Rs. 60,200. Additionally , the mess fee advance is Rs. 22,500 per semester, amounting to Rs. 45,000 annually.
Campus Life
The major annual fest happens in month of April named as JINKS-PRANAV but from past 2 years it's not happening due to some internal conflicts. Variety of books are available in library but most of them are old printed and of previous editions. Many new books are coming as the college has got its deemed University tag. College has separate cricket club , badminton club , volleyball club etc foe students to actively participate in sports and curricular activities. An NGO is run by students of NIAMT named KARTAVYAA which is even govt certified started by our Alumni.
Hostel Facilities
In first year we were provided with double seater rooms while from 2nd year onwards we were living in single rooms which is quite large for 1 person to accomodate. Mess quality I would say is poor as they barely cook good eatable food so one have to eat outside on regular basis. Hostel allotment goes freehand during admission process and very easily.
Admission
I applied for DTU, Jadhavpur University and MS Ramaiah institute of technology but in above 2 college I didn't get admission due to low rank while fees of MS college was too high and unaffordable. Admission process was quite simple, they first checked the allotment letter from Councelling then after that they verified the documents and confirmed the admission along with hostel allotment.
Faculty
Student intake is low so even no. Of faculty is less still the ratio is appropriate. Faculty I personally like us our HOD as he is a chill guy. I can't disclose the name of faculty I don't like but probably 80% of college don't like him. Exams are easy, questions are based on the class notes provided.
Night Life
Favourite hangout spot is outside college due to small campus area of college. New GYM is opening is our collehe campus while cafeteria is still unopened from the day is get into college. Hostel timing is 10PM for boys and 9PM for girls At night one can safely roam inside campus near grounds or near administrative building.
