What Students Say
Likes
- The college has quite a good academic building but the hostels are old and not very well maintained
- The crowd is nice and quite competitive, people are smart and quite sharp
- The professors are a bit on a stricter side however some are quite chill, they might make you work hard in order to score good
Dislikes
- Hostel and mess food is not up to date, often we face issues like insects in mess food or stale vegetables being served.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is not that relevant, could have been made better. it's not completely irrelevant topics like operating systems and computer architecture form the basics of computer science and are well asked in interviews. Teachers often use blackboards, green boards, white boards and smart projectors to teach. Exams happen every two months
Internships Opportunities
Internship is offered after second year , many companies come for the internship. In non core the opportunities are better for cse and ece while mechanical and electrical have quite good internship scenario in core . Some famous companies Salesforce - 3.5 lpa for 2 months sde intern Atlassian - 3 lpa for 2 months sde intern Tata steel - 2-3 lpa for 3 months core
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for internship after 4th semester , after 6th semester the companies start coming for regular placement For cse the average was around 20 lpa with median being 16-17 lpa Companies that generally visit are - atlassian, Amazon, flipkart , BNY Mellon, cisco, Texas Instruments etc Around 140 offers were made and in a batch of 120, 100 have secured placement Placement percentage is around 92% Highest package - 65 lpa atlassian (on campus) 1.23 cr rubrik (off campus) Lowest package - 7 lpa Average - 18 - 20 lpa
Fees and Financial Aid
The total course fee I’ve paid (or will be paying) amounts to 2,40,000 per year, which comes to 1,20,000 per semester. The breakdown of fees is as follows: Tuition Fees: 75,000 per semester Hostel & Mess Fees: 35,000 per semester Other Charges Caution deposit, lab fees, development fees, etc. For the complete course duration, this brings the total cost to around 9,60,000 for four years, excluding any additional or optional expenses.
Campus Life
The college has three annual fests Urja - the annual sports fest Culfest - annual cultural fest Ojass - annual tech fest All the fest are properly organised and have healthy participation by both college students and students from other colleges We have smart boards in every class and labs are well equipped Several clubs are there for literary knowledge, music, dance or coding. People actively participate in the events organised by these clubs
Hostel Facilities
Hostel is provided, for boys it's a two seater accomodation in the first year and a single private room in the second year In the third and fourth years ,it changes to a single room with a balcony Multiple hostels are there, each has some pros and cons , but all of them are not that well maintained Mess food is not good, it is repetitive and hygiene is often compromised
Admission
I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment. The college does nit accept admissions based on JEE Mains score. One getting around 99% ile can expect a call (general male) for cse or ece
Faculty
Each department has around 20-40 faculty . All are well qualified and almost everyone has done PhD, besides them, we have PhD scholars teaching us in labs. All are well qualified and have grasp over there subjects Some do have a lot of pride and may make you feel irritated but common that's the story everywhere. Some faculties are quite good, they do teach well and hand out marks liniently Some do not give marks at all might happen they may fail you. We have two exams per semester one mid term and one end term , along with that we are given assignments time to time that we need to submit before a particular deadline. The curriculum is neither too relevant nor too irrelevant could have been better Generally in a batch of 120, only 5-6 fail in more than 3 subjects and around 15 - 20 fail the tougher subjects.
Night Life
Nightlife is not very good, being in a rural area surrounded by multiple 'bastis' in time for girls is around 9 and for boys it's 10. The campus becomes bit unsafe after dark and is not advisable to roam freely as it is an open campus. We have a library, quite big but could have been better maintained Nescafe/Amba is some place every nit JSR student loves visiting
