Our Summers Placement is Quite Decent!

MBA Core curriculum consists of subjects from each and every management domain and keeps your option open until you come to second when you need to choose your electives. The curriculum is designed in a way that builds your basics first and then jumps to the next level. There are a total of 35 permanent faculties as of now which means 1 faculty for every 8 students and ALL the faculties are PhD holders from the topmost B-Schools of India including IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore, etc. Apart from these, there are many visiting faculties from the same B-Schools. Hence the faculties are undoubtedly top-notch. Their teaching method is more practical knowledge than a theoretical one. The sessions are engaging and not like regular lectures which ignite our thinking process! MBA Core in IIMs consists of 6 trimesters, hence exams take place every 3 months. If any student studies every day, He/She is going to get good grades for sure otherwise it's really tough!

Here we get Internship opportunities from many big brands and companies from all domains including Marketing, Finance, HR, Analytics, Sales, Operations, Strategy, Consulting Product Management, etc. Companies visit from almost all sectors including but not limited to IT, Manufacturing, Business Management, Engineering, Analytics, Consulting and FMCG, etc. A few of the big names include Adobe, Arcesium, BenQ, Cipla, Coca-Cola, Cognizant, Crompton Greaves, Dalmia, ICICI, Microsoft, Porter, RBI, TATA, Uber, Union Bank, V-Guard, and many more. 3.50 Lakhs.

The Placements support here is 100% i.e. the college will keep providing opportunities until the last student is placed. The Summer Placements start as soon as you enter the college, and the placement team starts to provide opportunities to apply. The Summer Placements are quite decent with an average of 60k stipend. Talking about the final placements, It starts from the 4th semester and again it records 100% placements till the end of the 6th semester. The average package offered is around 14.62 Lakhs and the Median is around 14.17 Lakhs as per the last records. However, the placements this year (2021-23 Batch) is expected to report an increase of 10% or more than the previous one as mentioned above.

The fee here at IIM Amritsar is 17.50 Lakhs which includes the Hostel and Mess fee. If I would have to break this into parts then the college and Hostel fee contributes to 16 Lakhs and the mess fee is 25000 per semester. The top 5% of students who get the highest marks get a 100% scholarship of the tuition fee for the first year and there is another govt. scholarships too. The placement here is 100% and the job assistance is remarkable. The college keeps providing opportunities until the last student is placed. The average package is around 14.62 Lakhs till the last recorded placement session. This year it is expected to grow by 10% or more. The summer placement here is quite decent. The average stipend offered is around 60k where the highest stipend goes up to 3.50 Lakhs and the lowest could be Zero as well. (However, there would not be more than 5% of students getting zero stipends at any given point in time as per the previous data)

The campus life here is quite vibrant. You will find people from almost all cultures. Since the whole campus is Student Driven, there are more than 10 committees, 20 clubs and 5 cells. Hence, You get to learn and experience a lot in almost every management aspect. "AARUNYA" is the annual cultural, sports and management fest of IIM Amritsar which takes place in the months of January (Online events) and February (Offline events) The library here is decent with all kinds of managerial books. However, They provide access to e-libraries and more than 100 sources of journals, research institutions and websites. The classrooms are quite decent with good infrastructure. Talking of sports, there are more than 20 kinds of indoor and outdoor facilities available hence you will never be bored here. Even at midnight, You'll always find some companions to spend your leisure time with. Apart from these, there are interest-based groups so you can very well spend your time with them and enjoy them here.

I took CAT 2021 to get into college. The application form was opened in the first week of August and was closed in mid September. The exam took place in the last week of November. The application fee was between Rs.1500 to Rs.2000. I got 87.61%ile in this attempt. This was my casual attempt but somehow I was able to achieve this score. The Cut-Off for OBC was 80%ile overall and the sectional cut-offs were 65%ile each. However, As far as I know, they shortlisted people above 85%ile. The interviews were scheduled in March and the shortlist was announced in the first week of June. All this time I was waiting for the results full of anxiety and stress. And finally, it happened!

Since It was the Covid time there was no GD or WAT process. We just had an all-around interview process. IIM Amritsar conducts its own interview process and doesn't participate in the IIM CAP process as other new-generation IIMs do. However, It might take data from IIM BLACKI for the interview that you had with them. First, the students are shortlisted on the basis of cut-off criteria based on CAT percentile and then we are asked to appear for the interview in the month of March. However, the form which we need to fill out is quite extensive and asks for many details including academic records, achievements, extracurriculars, Why IIM Amritsar, Why should we select you, and so on. Once the interview gets over, you need to wait for 2-3 months for results which is the toughest part. IIM Amritsar doesn't release any waitlist hence you need to keep checking its website for your admission status. To prepare for the interview one should be ready with all the basics about oneself, past acads & GK.
