Remarks
To enroll in B.Tech, NSUT. We need to be qualified at the 12th or equivalent level. After that, we need to give a Joint Entrance. Examination and secure a percentile of 99+ to get a seat in tech branches from the general category at NSUT. With reservation of OBC-NCL, we can avail of cutoff relaxation and secure a seat with 96+ percentile. I think the admission process is up to mark.
Course Curriculum Overview
I always had an interest in computers so I chose computer science. The course curriculum is perfect. faculty to student ratio is decent although in the initial years, you get guest faculties they are good. The faculties are qualified and are mostly Ph.D. graduates and are experienced in teaching. But some faculties don't focus on teaching that much and miss many classes so the syllabus is left incomplete but the whole syllabus is covered in exams. Term exams are sometimes on a daily basis which is very difficult to manage, if they're timely they are easily passable.
Internships Opportunities
Most companies that come for placements also come for internships at the same time. They recruit students who have completed their 2 years of study. The stipend offered is quite decent ranging up to 2 lakhs per month. Most companies come for tech roles such as SDE, Tech Analyst, etc.
Placement Experience
College placements are certainly very good. Studentws become eligible to apply for college placements after 6th semester i.e. after completing 3rd year. Many high-profile companies visit the campus and recruit students such as Microsoft, Google, Adobe, etc. Placed student percentage is quite high as the number of companies visiting campus is high. Profiles offered are in tech roles and non-tech roles, tech roles have comparatively higher packages than non-tech roles. The highest package in a tech role is around 42 Lakhs per annum whereas the average is 18-19 Lakhs, I don't know much about nontech roles. More than 90% of students get placed that apply for placements. I plan to join a high-paying company as an SDE after getting the degree and if that is not possible I plan to open a startup.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are very high given that NSUT is a government college. We have fees above 2 lakhs per annum which is at times very difficult to manage. About scholarships, we first have to try and avail the government scholarships based on merit or financial conditions of the family, and then we can try college scholarships. Scholarships are very untimely, I've still not received my scholarship for the year 2021-22, given that it'll be 2 years now.
Campus Life
The annual fest conducted at NSUT is Moksha. In this, intercollege competitions are held and many fun events for students are also organized. Famous artists come and perform in the evening which is the highlight of the day. It is usually conducted in the month of February or March. Books, journals, pyqs are thoroughly available in the library. New classrooms built have more than necessary amenities but the old ones are like school classrooms, although they are being renovated as we speak. Sports and extracurricular activities are all good. Many societies formed by students are maintained, they organize events, and build skills. They are based on different fields such as Dance Society- Mirage, Music Society- Crescendo, Tech society - GDSC, etc.
