Remarks
To be honest, I got a seat in chemical engineering in this college as home state quota, it's good with respect to placements but the infrastructure is quite old. Last year I applied for CSAB and got a seat in chemicals, the counselling was held between 1 to 7 August. As I was near to it, so I preferred this.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had some interest in Chemicals so I opted for chemical Engineering. The course curriculum in NITJ is comprehensive, covering all the major areas of the subject. The faculty members are highly experienced and knowledgeable with a good student-teacher ratio. The faculty members are well-qualified and have several years of experience in teaching. They have the ability to explain the concepts clearly, which helps the students to understand the subject matter better. They use different teaching methodologies to make the learning process for the students. They also provide timely term examinations and exams are tough to pass. The institute also provides several facilities to students to help them in their studies. Overall, the course curriculum and faculty members of NITJ in Chemical Engineering are of very good quality and students get a great learning experience.
Internships Opportunities
Most internships offered on campus are core but tech-based internships are also there. I applied off-campus and got an internship in a tech-based company in Bangalore. We have to submit daily work and internship reports after training.
Placement Experience
The placements are very good. Most of the students get placed except those in further studies. The highest package offered was 40LPA by amazon and the average is 7.5LPA. In chemicals, More than 95% of students get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are three categories of Tuition fees based on the annual income of the household : 1. Below 1 Lakh or SC/ST - Rs 0 2. Between 1-5 Lakh - Rs 20840 /- 3. Above 5 Lakh - Rs 62000/- Apart from this, We are charged 25000 extra as institution charges and 25000 as mess fees. So for the 2019 batch and the second category(1-5 lakh), I pay approx 72000 per semester including all. I am a scholarship holder of POST MATRIC CENTRAL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME BY CENTRAL GOVT. which provides me with the financial assistance of 10000 per year.
Campus Life
There are two fests conducted every year - TECHNI and UTKANSH. TECHNI is a tech fest where many technical events are conducted and DJ, Fashion Show etc are done. UTKANSH is a cultural fest. There is an athletic ground, basketball ground, table tennis ground, and badminton hall available.
Hostel Facilities
In hostels, A bed, table, and chair are provided along with only fans allowed. There are three hostels -GH1 for the first year which has two and five-seater rooms, GH2 for the second year which has two and four-seater rooms and MGH for the third and fourth years which has two-seater only. Apparently, the new hostel is also in progress and will be in use by 2023.
Interview Experience
I gave JEE Main and secured a 79k rank in OBC Category to get admission to NIT Jalandhar. Studying basic +1 and +2 class study material can help you clear JEE Mains, especially NCERT. Apart from this, no need for other tests or preparation is required.
